    Hi guys,

    I was wondering what would be the "default" or advisable tyre size for the 18" DELTA alloys.
    I am currently running on 235/45R18.
    Would 225's fit on them as well?

    Does anyone also know what air pressure the 235/45R18 should be on?
    The tyre (hankook) manufacturar doesn't give any indications and little plate on my Accord doesn't show any tyres above 205 /17

    cheers
    Erik

    The 235/45 is the correct tyre size for 18s. If you go down to 225 you will lose about 4.5mm of ride height and add 1.36% of speedo error which is negligible. .

    Existing = 235/45/18
    New = 225/45/18

    That's weird because my Deltas are fitted and labeled with 225/45/18.
    I am sure that 225 is correct size for Deltas.

    The sizes in 'non bold' are aftermarket sizes.. the bold ones are official. I put different combos in the size calculator and at compared to 16" size tyres at 225 45 18 the speedo error 1.1% and a drop of 3.6mm so maybe the website data is a bit off (never happened before). I am sure 225 will be just fine in that case.

    Mines also 225/45/18 on my 8th Generation
    I'm sure the 8th gem Type-S comes with 235/40/18 as stock.

    The 2.4 and 2.2 180bhp, both in Type-S form, come with 235/45/18 as standard.

    The 18" Delta's are recommended 225/45/18 for 8th Generation and are not recommended for the 2.4/2.2 180 BHP Type-S models.

    IIRC, the 2.4 and 2.2 180 Type-S models are 8j in wheel width, not 7.5j hence the wider tyre.

    Guys, can you help me,
    can i mount 205 tyres on 17" standart accord wheels?
    standart tyres is with 225/50, but if i go with 205/55 (the same speed will be) but the tire wall will be taller, and thus - better ride. But im concerned if it possible to mount that width tyres on standart 17" alloys. Thanks

    You will throw off your speedo, but the way I see it, you can fit square wheels to your car, but you obviously have to deal with the consequences of that decision.

    Go to 16's if you want more comfort, but I found the Accord to be a very comfortable car on 225/50/17's when I test drove the 8th Generation.

    Even on 225/45/17 the 7th Generation was an extremely comfortable car for me, no issues on long journeys at all.

    Yea i know. Im asking about
    205/55/r17 instead of 225/50/r17, for first variant the tyre side wall is taller, so it must be more.comfortable than standart. But question is if they mount on my allow, i not know how much wide is my alloy, and a minimal tyre width, that can mount on it :Smile:

    You may have a stretched look about your tyres, which is a "thing" some modders like, but I don't know how your authorities view it??

    10J_195_45_13.

    but yes, the narrower tyre should fit, but what I also don't know is, if you will encounter rubbing on full steering lock due to the taller sidewall on the tyre.

    Hi ZeroZ.
    In fact, it does matter you're running on size 235. It's the wrong tyre size for this rim. The tyre will show some 'tension' as the rim is not wide enough.
    Also: it's the wrong tyre size for our cars (CU1). In Belgium you would not pass the yearly technical inspection.
    Honda does not give any tyre pressure advice for this kind of cases.
    If I were you, I'd use the same pressure as for the correct 225, but keep in mind you should change them as soon as possible as they might adverisbly affect handling, brake distance, consumption...

    Yup I agree I will change the tyres to 225 when these are finished. What is weird though that these tyres where fitted by the Honda dealer :Wink:
    In Holland we don't have these kind of regulations but tbh the tyres are fitting the rim quite nicely and the handling is great.
