Wee update ... Been able to get a replica of the NA2 NSX-R completely built from scratch and to a very high standard of craftsmanship.
What is on my car is the actual prototype, so thought I would post up to showcase.

    Comments welcome

    another update ...

yes more £££'s spent on the NSX recently.

Prior to my roadtrip to Goodwood Festival of Speed, I have toyed with the notion of getting the ICE sorted in my car particularly the sound quality.
When i purchased the car back in 2010 the previous owner had already replaced (not available with car) the head unit in the car with a single din sony mini disc player. The NSX has a double din as standard. It was never installed correctly and looked like crap. So it was quickly replaced with a Pioneer model and it has been in the car ever since.

The car originally comes with a Bose (per speaker amplified) system with a Honda branded Alpine head unit (cassette deck). It has 2 door speakers, a ported subwoofer enclosure (passenger footwell) and a centre speaker in the centre console. Now 25 years ago this system may have been high end but in the 21st century and the quality of bose compared to other products it simply does not cut it. I have never been happy with the system, but too many other jobs were priority for me and the audio components simply made do ... till now.

So I went along to a specialist car audio company here in NI - Audio Advice NI, spoke to Phil re my requirements and expectations and off to work he went. As with most people he had never worked on an NSX so was very interested in doing a job on the car and took even more pity on me when he actually listened to what was in my car ... he could not believe how poor it was.

Key requirement for me was that I want my car to retain OEM look so no special builds on A-pillars or things like that ... as much I would have loved to have got a nice 3 way component system installed :Frown: So a very strict brief was discussed with Phil and away he went to have a think on stuff to order and install all before FoS in a couple of days.

Bose component trash pulled out and replaced with JL Audio stuff which includes:
    400/4 amplifier
6W3v3 subwoofer with custom box built and fitted to go into footwell as standard
C5-525x door speakers in custom enclosure with dynomat placed on doors to retain sound dynamics
high grade cables, wiring and connections used

    Verdict
The sound delivery and quality is night and day over original. Dynamics and power are in a different league and you need to be tone deaf or deaf not to hear the difference. Music now sounds alive whereas before I struggled with any sort of mid range punch and either the system was being pushed to hard or just not able to provide any clarity. Pending on album production a lot of stuff just sounded flat. I am a rocker (AOR, Hard rock, Metal and classic) at heart along with OST's and some American Country. Now my music sings again. The punch from the 6" sub is amazing for such a small package. I now have 2 beautiful soundtracks - 1. engine/exhaust noise 2. new audio set up! The cabin is a nice place to be now. System will take a few more hrs to bed down but so far delighted. i know other owners like the Bose setup or do not wish to remove OEM but seriously it is a pile of turd to my ears anyway and i see it as a must upgrade to the car which retains my original brief.

Anyway enough waffle, he are some pics provided by the installer.

Thanks mate, the head unit however was purchased shortly after I bought the car in 2010 so that unit is 4 yrs old now. What attracted me to it was that it was loaded with features and would look nice in the car. It was fitted by the guy that looks after the NSX for me.

As you can see the car was brought up to a local detailing business PMG Autocare for some TLC prior to winter hibernation. I thank him and his team for doing a nice job for me and taking the time out to work on areas of the car that are not always seen.

The eagle eyed among you will notice the rims have been changed. I was able to source a set of ProDrive GC07 from Germany based on the recommendation of Sudesh. These wheels are the closest match to OEM in terms of look (I want to retain that look as much as possible) out there and they provide a bigger offset etc that is more suited to the car in terms of filling out the arches. The car is now on 17" rims all round with Bridgestone Potenza. The wheels are very sought after within the NSX community around the world so was fortunate to bag em quickly. The wheels have added another dimension to the handling of the car and feels more planted in certain types of corner

I was not in the position to purchase new tyres for the rear to fit the new wider wheels, so unfortunately I have a slight tyre stretch look on the rear which I am not a fan of tbh but will get a proper new set when these have worn out. New lower profile tyres added upfront as original size was 16" and required a lower profile to fit within the wheel arches up front. I will need to raise the ride height up front as I am not happy with how it sits currently and not as forgiving on some roads due to current height.

As you can see a further update on the rear of the car. I have added the NA2 rear valance to the car. This part is from the US company Downforce who make quality parts and components.

Few more pics in daylight after bringing the car back from detailers.

I need to get some wire mesh installed as they supplied a piece that was too small for the valance; However very happy with the new look and freshens up the rear. I also replaced the rear light units on the car. Unfortunately as with all these parts they tend to start to degrade overtime and mine was starting to split and condensation was forming. This was after buying new gaskets etc which did work for a period but it was not enough in the end. :Frown: So had to bite the bullet and the wallet took a hefty dent in seeking out new a new JDM set. Thanks to Andy in Donnellys Ballymena for sourcing parts for me.

Have a few more bits n pieces to add to the car but these will unlikely see the light of day till 2015.

Thoughts and comments welcome on recent additions.
