at last me and my m8 (one who wrote of his NSX) have got round to start rebuilding his Nissan 200sx it has been sitting for 7 or 8 years with a few turn overs to keep it alive. we drove it out of the storage area into workshop at lunchtime, the engine is on the bench and don't look as bad as was first thought.
usual stuff will need work chassis, hoses/pipes but was really surprised to see how good it was.
my Prelude flew through m.o.t so I want to give the 200sx a race when its all sorted , whats the betting ? :OTT: he got 1.8 turbo :sherlock:

    You're making good progress.

So what needs doing to the engine ?

Looks great, love these old Nissans, and the S13's had the best shape out of all generations. Look forward to seeing progress, the body looks very clean from the pics.

the body needs a couple of small hole in the engine compartment fixed (welded) and a couple under each chassis very minor apart from that sound. the engine will need new bottom shells (con rod bearings) new oil pump, water pump, all new belts some new bits for cosmetics i.e hoses gaskets. all in all not as much as we first thought. :fingerscrossed:

Good to see what's happening to your 200SX. It's great to have access to a decent workshop. :Niceone:

    Good stuff !

Just be careful you don't get an debri or dirt in the engine or on the crank.

I always thoroughly clean the work area before dismantling an engine.

Good to see things like this.

I've always been a Datsun/Nissan fan (well before the Primera went all Laguna (what do you mean no eGT model?) and the Puke anyway)

Jap cars are in my blood from early age.

Parents had Datsun 100A and F11 then a 120Y when I was young plus a string of Datsun/Nissan after that.

I remember my dad had one of the first Sunny B11s it was red '82 X-reg and I used to get a bo!!*%&ing for climbing in and out through the front windows. That was watching too much Dukes of Hazard for you! :Rolf:

The neighbour on one side had a maroon First Gen Accord SJ saloon with a beige vinyl roof and the neighbour the other side had a silver 260Z
