Engine & Gearbox 7th Generation Petrol K20 P2646 with a jammed VTC oil control solenoid valve

    Going to have a look at this 2.0 liter tourer today with the above symptoms after the engine was run on low oil.

    The oil has been topped up since and the car goes into limp mode after long runs.

    Pictures and DIY to follow during the day,just getting my car loaded with tools and HDS and going to sheffield.

    Sensor side no gunk all clean will give EGR a clean the VTC solenoid on the timing chain side refused to budge

    Got the VTC out on paper it not the bad will soak it in brake fluid . Going to stop for lunch now

    You can see the muck but not much using a soft toothbrush soaked in brake fluid for one hour.

    Yup it was Helen old car , was not to happy to learn the oil was nearly gone before the car stopped to protect itself. The engine is sound but the gunk has got everywhere.
