As some of you are aware i had an accident not to long ago.
A car came off the side road and came straight into me.
I thought i'll give you all an update.
Insurance declared my car a write off CAT C.
I couldn't let go of the FR-V therefore I decided to buy it back.
I bought the car back for £600.

    The FR-V is now repair and back on the road . IMG_20160904_135215. IMG_20160904_145723. IMG_20160904_155141. IMG-20160904-WA0002. IMG-20160904-WA0005. IMG-20160904-WA0006.

Looks like the window regulator and window pain itself are both fine and can be transferred over to a replacement door, should they be needed.

Good job, interesting that the window glass survived the impact!

That's one big impact and I bet the insurance like mine said"it's an old car and the cost of repairs is higher than what we would pay" even though it's your pride and joy and you've cared and looked after it lovingly it's easier for them to write it off. What I can't get my head around is that it's not your fault(as mine was as well) yet your own insurance company writes the car off. Surely you should have the option and if you choose to have it repaired then there should be no questions the other insurance company should have to pay regardless of the costs.

By the way I applaud you for taking on the task of repairing your pride and joy and am looking forward to your photographs.

I completely agree with you @MickyB.
Sad thing was they didn't even inspect my car, they wrote it off by looking at the pictures. I'm not too disheartened as it gave me the opportunity purchase and fix my car and was able to purchase a well look aftered accord.

Glad everyone was ok and the FR-V is repaired and back on the road.

Insurance companies always take the easiest (for them) option regardless of whether they have a good case or not.

They didn't even see photographs of mine, they asked me over the phone what the damage was as soon as I said well the back bumper is damaged that was it. It's 17 years old so even if there's just a scratch on a panel then we would write it off...

I hate insurance companies with a passion. It wasn't your fault and it seemed cheap enough to buy your car back but I bet £600 that next year your policy will be higher by £600 or more despite you not being at fault..
Glad you got it fixed though.

Although they wrote it off did they pay you out what they thought it was worth?

    I'm dreading the next renewal.
I got paid out £3,100. Don't know what the car is worth at the current market but first they offered me £2,400, then £2,800 which I refused to as I thought it was a joke.

Even when you have "protected no claim bonus" your insurance premium increases ! Why ... as you now have a claim registered against your name. In fact you keep paying for this "claim" over the next 3 or 5 years .. remember the question that is always asked "How many claims made in the last 3 (or 5) years ?"

Insurance is such a big scam. Even worse in other fields such as "home insurance".

I forgot to mention to you all as well. I didn't get a courtesy car because they told me my car will be a write off.

Repair pictures still to follow, as i'm still working on the FR-V.
After the car being in storage then the garage, the door cards got quite dirty, so i decided to give them a good clean.
