Hey Chris did you top up the gas yourself or a aircon chap? IIRC the 7th Generation needs 550 grams of gas to work effectively ,provided the system has been vacuumed.

I think there is a small looking glass at the front left of the engine bay where you can check if coolant is moving okay...anyone know what to look for with this?

depends if the problem is the ammount of gas or could be an electrical/relay issue. I've seen faulty climate controll pannels before now. you need to check you have two earths and feeds at the A/C compressor relay. if you are missing one on the A/C is gas'd up you need to trouble shoot where you are missing the feed earth. A/C diagnosis isnt realy somthing easily done unless you have a good knowlege of how an A/C system works and general electrical knowhow.

thanks for the replies guys, It was done at a ford dealership as i work there so was all done properly and got a printout for the leak test and everything seems to be fine.
im going to go out in a bit and see about that looking glass to see if i can see it. will also see it it is actually fireing up when i turn the A/C on as i havent really noticed much of a change in engine noise when i do switch it on. The guy who did it at work said he will have a look into it.
Im glad the regas was a freebie as it dosent work properly, just trying to get everything done on my list so the car is all up together, not that im selling it
will let you know the outcome

Can you actually hear a change on engine noise when you turn the ac on?

havent really been out today but went out to see if there was and there isnt, also looked through the viewing glass and no movement inside.
Seems like its not even kicking in.. what do you think?

I'm no expert but I think the compressor should be kicking in. Might be worth taking it to an ac specialist. Have you checked fuses/relays?

There definitely is a change of tune when the compressor kicks in the moment you turn A/C on.

Mine was gassed at Honda last summer and it was giving freezing cold air. Then I went dumb in the winter and didn't turn it on once, even though I should, and now there is no cold air coming out at all. Just the outside temperature. Would it all just go because of not using it, and will a re-gassing fix it?

Need to get it done really as the heat in UK is immense so far

could well be the A/C compressor relay, there prone to failing. make sure it is a mitsuba relay if your replacing.

You're advised to use the ac for a minimum amount of time each week. This circulates the gas and the oil in it which lubricates the rubber seals. If u don't the rubber seals dry and causes the gas to leak. So you should just need a re gas and all will be cool again.
