    hi all,

Applogies for starting yet another thread about AUX installation, but I am really struggling to find an answer to this question.

A lot of adapters (including a WIDELY recommended Xcarlink) state: This item is NOT compatible with stereos that have the 6 CD Player built into the stereo.

As I do have 6CD player buit into the stereo, I am a bit sceptical. Yet a lot of images (on this forum and around the internet) show that it is possible to connect an AUX device to a unit with inbuilt 6 CD changer.

Would this just not be possible to connect, would it require a separate cable (like this one) or would it be possible to connect aux, but that would disable CD player?

    Can someone please explain?

    Thanks,
    Tasa

Mines a 6 cd stereo with standard Xcarlink plus Bluetooth module. The cable that comes with it plugs straight into stereo.

I've got a GROM USB thing and a built in 6 cd changer too, Aux input works fine.

I've got the 6cd changer and sat Nav and xcarlink just plugs into the aux socket on the rear of the head unit. Works perfect.

Thread hijack, so this xcarlink adaptor will actually work with the "premium sound system" 6CD changer models? I've got to ask again because it does state:

These Photos are taken with the GROM Audio USB2 in an 04 Executive with Sat Nav and 6 CD Changer.

In CD mode you still have access to the 6 Discs, (apologies for the lack of definitive proof, I've only got 1 CD handy)

Press CD/AUX again and it goes into CDC mode which is the GROM USB.

I'm assuming the XCARLINK will be something very similar,
hope this helps clear things up.

Thanks for clearing that up, I can't view the attachments but I take your word for it! I'm left with the decision now whether GROM or xcarlink is the better route to go :Wassat:

EDIT: Ordered a Eonon Honda unit with SD/USB/AUX and built-in Bluetooth for about half the price of the others.

Do you have a link for the Eonon unit?

Sure, I put it in a post on my cars thread. Some details there too.

I'm tempted to say wait off for a day or two because my unit lost connection twice yesterday, I'm chatting with the seller trying to get to the bottom of it atm.

Stu, I would go with the Xcarlink, it has proved it's reliability with many members. I'm sure we have a discount code still with them. I'm on the phone at the moment, I'll try and dig it out later.

I've been considering the Xcarlink. I'm not bothered about connecting a phone just like the idea of being able to play MP3.

If you want reliability I'd go with Rob's suggestion of xcarlink, or GROM which others on here use. I just decided to try out a cheaper box with built-in bluetooth.

Nope, I don't think pre-facelift had CD text capabilities and that's what it would be fed through. You simply get "CDDC Disk#-Track#" displayed.

I don't suppose that's any different to what the CD info is.

No 7th Generation displays cd info.
This model Xcarlink is for just connecting mp3 or using memory card with.

You normally have to dump up to 99 tracks across 6 folders so that they can be treated as discs.
