My boot didn't have a light but I did have the connection plug, so fitted a strip of led lights the full width of the boot. I now light up the whole street when opening it.

Took 10 minutes and a £3.99 roll of sticky-back waterproof LEDs.

Credit where it's due, that's a good idea. One of the better uses I've seen for strip lighting.

Forget the alloys, this is what you need next.

This is what I've been meaning to do too. I used the same stuff for my number plate and have a few meters left over.

I had mine from amazon which I think came from China too but in about 3 days. I had the water proof version too.

Im not that electrically minded, so forgive me if this is a dumb question, but how do you make the connection from the existing connector that connects the original boot light to the new LED strips?

@Blue Toffee, I removed the blue plug and fitted a connector for the new wiring. Not sure why the light was never fitted, unless the SE version didn't get a boot light, only the wiring.

To connect mine I just shoved the 2 led wires in the back of the plug and taped it up. Job done!

I have a single T10 LED bulb (5 SMD) in my boot, it still has pretty bad light throw. Props for the ingenuity, you've got me tempted to give it a shot as well
