I was just driving to work when all of a sudden the steering felt heavier than usual and then noticed when I braked that the braking was heavier too.

When I parked the car I checked the tyres and they looked fine, plus there are no warning lights on the dash board. So I really dunno what to do, I was nervous driving onto work and gonna be driving home later. Please anyone know what could be the problem? I don't know a lot about cars :Frown:

Does the car start OK? Does the engine turn as fast as it use to when you crank it to start or is it really slow?

Well your symptoms are strange, heavy steering and braking? How does a brake system go "heavy" ?

as long as engine is running, why would the brakes go heavy?? Steering is electric too so no belt issue to be mindful of..

Just started car like normal which is great, steering wheel still feeling heavy though. I had a look at my tyes and the front right do seem a little softer than the others, so I'm going petrol station to set the pressure right on all of them then see what the drive home is like.

take it to a honda garage as its highly unlikely you can fix it

Why would the timing belt be involved?

Any problem with the steering needs to be properly investigated. I agree with Slim.

I think you had some electrical gremlin which meant that the battery voltage was low in which case the power steering as it is electrically driven felt heavy.

There's now way for the brakes to "Feel heavy!".

oh, im starting to think the heavy brakes feeling was more psychological when the steering wheel. and YES, thats how it feels - like the power steering has gone!!!

things can be rinsing the battery:

    1. dashcam which i leave shuved ito the cigerette lighter slot literally 24/7, i never take it out, so thats using power
    2. i use the stereo bluetooth always when driving hooked up listening to music on my phone
    3. i leave the fan heater thing to clear fog on screen my whole journey pretty much

All that is fine as those things only come on when the car is on.

Just see how it goes and if it happens again.
