    Hi all,

How's the car of the month chosen?
Is this a recent monthly election? I know of only 2 COTM's.

    What are the criteria?

At this moment in time the AOCE members decided which members car is the one.. should we have a democratic poll ?

It's an option that saves you time. And that's good.
There's a downside to this: the one that knows how to take a decent picture and has got optical changes (kit and wheels) has a big chance of winning.
Other criteria that would make sense to be nominated/elected (just out of my head):
    - impressive mileage
    - exclusive, rare to find version
    - historic value
    - modifications
    - ...
But it's time consuming, there's no panel that evaluates, and each month is exagerated to organise this.
With more criteria and a panel to evaluate a yearly 'car of the year' might be elected? Candidates could get the oportunity to defend and explain shortly why they think their car should be nominated. But maybe just dreaming... Power of dreams, you know.
    Just ventilating ideas.

I don't think that the prizes are big enough to entice members to go to such great lengths as explaining themselves. I don't think many will bother.

Impressive mileage - could be faked, how do we obtain proof. Also inherently not all cars are that economical and not all drivers drive that drive economically.

exclusive, rare to find version - this is a good one but it will rule out the large amount of members

historic value - same as above

modificitions - not many people are into mods

My proposal = we could have a bigger prize for the best looking car at a meet.

I think we would benefit more if we encouraged members to document their mods and work they do on their cars. People always like to see these things.

    Hi SpeedyGee,
With 'impressive mileage' I mean an impressivly high total mileage of the car. Not MPG. Must be my 'English'. Sorry.
But basic question: what are the current criteria? If it's just a nice, good looking picture of a car with body kit and nice rims (like S-Type): fine for me, but at least it's clear. S-types or big rims are almost always nicer than a standard car. No discussion, but this also rules out the vast majority of members.
By the way: nominating a car on a meeting is not a bad idea, but you also rule out the vast majority of members. Not even talking about these on the continent.
If you would members let present their cars, you are sure about a couple of things:
    - the owner is pride of his/her ride
    - you might notice some special things that are not visible on a picture
    - the owner will be happy with the prize

That's a good one. Like it. But it's all fine for me, as long as it's clear what the criteria are. I just gave some ideas on possible points thact might plat a role.

I just like seeing pictures of other peoples cars so if they have taken the time to wash and detail theirs then they get my vote even if it is standard.

Same here Jace, I share and agree that sentiment.

I'm a big fan of detailing but am personally not big on showing off my own pictures but always welcome those who are kind enough to share :Hey:

Hey Saj, Your car is ace! If you got it flaunt it  With out your pics people wouldn't realize they can get an Ex model and then put an original Honda body kit on it. It actually gives the buyer a greater choice of car to choose from especially if they were after a certain colour.

On a side note I thought we could do something with the gallery by having a seperate section where the pictures have a standardized format to the way they are took. I was thinking 5 pics starting with the front bumper and moving round every 45 degrees to give a virtual view. Adding references to the colour of the car, wheels and model etc.

The pics would need separating into the different models or colours etc to be able to build up a comprehensive gallery. The idea was if I was looking to add a spoiler to my car, I could look up an 8th Generation car and see what it looked like. Or if I was thinking of changing my wheels I could see what other people had. By having a standardized format I could then Photoshop the wheels off a 7th Generation and drop them on an 8th Generation to get a better idea of what they would look like. As the better weather is approaching I thought I would mention it. It was just a thought. May be I'm just after some more car porn:Blushing:

Haha thanks Jace mate, you're too kind!

I do however like your suggestion of a "mapped" car so buyers and others can see it in all dimensions.

Sadly, I am rubbish with 3D stuff and imagery but am sure there must be a member or two that can initiate that "car porn" for us?

(As a side note, and Im not saying this because of his nice words to me, but I can vouch for the fact that you'll not find a nicer bloke than Racy Jace - first time I met him I knew straightaway that this guy was a legend ).
