anyone got any good idea's for refurbing centre caps?? I've got the 6th Generation accord with the 5 double spoke alloys, like the ATR. I've been looking for 4 centre caps in great nick but really struggling to find any. Mine have discolouration on the edges of the caps, any ideas would be welcomed.

    Thanks

    Matt

Still waiting for em to dry. I forgot to take before and after pics!! Sorry
It was pretty straightforward though, i cleaned em up, sprayed them with halfords wheel and trim spray, then sprayed universal clear laquer.
I'll get some pics done tomorrow

It was pretty simple. I used

    WD-40 specialist fast acting degreaser
Halfords wheel & wheel trim paint (silver)
    Halfords universal clear laquer
    Auto masking tape

    1. I cleaned em
    2. I degreased em with the WD-40 (really good stuff, highly recommended it) then put masking tape on the emblems.
    3. Spray with the wheel & trim paint. I gave them three thin coats leaving them for about 20 mins between sprays for it to dry. The first coat seemed to come out a bit dirty and i thought i'd ruined the caps but as it dryed it seemed to become more silver. I also turned them upside down after spraying to let the paint run to the outside.
    4. After the last coat let them dry for at least 24 hours then i gave em three coats of laquer, again with a 20 min gap in between sprays.
    5. I left them to dry for another day then put them back on the motor. Done.

I think if i had taken a bit more time to smooth off areas of discolouration before spraying they would have come out totally perfect but i'm well chuffed with the result anyway.

As long as you are happy with them, thats the important thing. :Niceone:

If you do decide to do your alloys, please, do not use anything from halfords - get proper stuff and 2k lacquer as well.

Ok, good shout. I know the halfords aint the best by a long way, but the centre caps have turned out nice.

What paint would you use for the alloys?

    Wheel Paints

They supply paint for the refurb companies, its the proper stuff and its what I used for my alloys. Your post reminded me that I never finished my DIY on alloy refurbs, so I need to finish that up and then it will give you a better idea of doing them. (I have about 5 DIYs I am behind on)

I might get my hands on a set of Honda Jazz Sport alloys and I am weighing all my options .. I am guessing you will do yours in a couple of months time?
