    Hello

First off apologies - the coupe in question is not a Honda, but I think I've been here long enough to get away with it. :Fear:

So I've recently bought a 1996 Toyota Celica 2.0GT (mid-life crisis in full swing) and excitedly put the kids booster seats in the back to go for a wee family drive on a sunny Sunday only to discover the shape of the seats make this difficult (they dip where your bum should go).

A cushion under the booster seat helps but I'm not convinced how safe this is.

I can't be the only one with this problem. A quick google search hasn't shed any light.

Anybody know of a suitable solution?

What if your put some cushion or those cheese shape seat thingsy to fill the cavity and then put the booster seat on?

Post some pics of your Celica. I really like the Celica's, my rally hero. They are chip as chips to buy always tempting....

may be worth a trip to your local upholsterer and see if they can cut some foam to shape to get a better fit??

    Thanks guys.

I'm thinking maybe a feather cushion or foam insert as suggested. The booster seats just don't sit right as it is and if the kids shuffle about it's even worse.

Might even ask a traffic cop next time I see one.

    How old are your kids?

I had terrible trouble finding a Group 1 seat for my ATR. The guys on the ATR forum were more interested in how they looked rather than how safe they were.

Kids are 8 and 5 so it's a booster seat and a high back booster.

Isn't this the 1.8 VVTI that Yamaha designed for them. Good motor but a bit down on torque. But What a beauty you have dug up!! Looks mint.

I am sure you know the other Yamaha designed motor Toyota used in one of their cars recently??

That one above is still for sale on Autotrader...just under £9k and 30k miles

It is the 2ZZ-GE engine I think its code is, so yup, its the 1.8 VVT-i with 190bhp. I don't know about Yamaha no, please do tell

All toyota performance engines need to be revved hard to get the best out of them. None have low down torque really.

    I'm glad you asked.
    It is the LFA's 4.8 L 1LR-GUE Even firing V10

Please take time to listen to it...

The best sounding engine in modern history. It revs so violently they had to put a digital RPM meter in as the physical one couldn't keep up.

The engine and the acoustics were both designed by them. Yamaha does quite a lot of work for Toyota. They even had a hand in the IS-F's 2UR-GSE

Toyota make cars just as reliable as any Honda, especially some of the older ones, its a pity they have dropped the ball over the past decade or so and started to dabble around with BMW and reduce the quality of their interiors. They are so boring inside now, and with the few exceptions, GT86 comes to mind, nothing really left to excite. Even their family cars are boring now.

I loved my auto celica. Especially as it had a 142db stereo!

All the best engines used in Toyota performance cars were designed or partially engineered with the help of Yamaha.
