Ok so I thought I would post some of the jobs I have done on the EV1 since owning it.
Replaced lower front arm bushings original Honda parts
Replaced front drop links heavy duty Meyer off eBay. (Really good quality)
Replaced front discs and pads. Pagid parts
Dismantled front callers, cleaned Pistons, slider bolts and renewed all brake fluid.
Replaced front ARB bushings. Honda parts
Replaced front engine mount. Honda parts
Replaced front shocks upper mount and bearings. Kyb parts
Removed and stripped steering rack. Cleaned and re greased. Replaced plastic slider and adjusted rack tension via adjuster bolt and locknut. (This solved my knocking noise over rough ground at low speeds)
Replaced rear discs and pads. Pagid parts
Reset rear calliper and adjusted handbrake
More to follow ....
So yet to be done are the following
Replace front shocks and springs
Replace rear drop links
T-cut & Polish paintwork.
Would like to see more pictures please.
Yes, when I replace the shocks and springs I will take pics.
In for more pics too!
Really interested in doing a rack refurb, was pleased to read it solved the knocking issue you were having, pretty sure mine has the same problem.
Are you planning go with uprated shocks and lowering springs or stay standard?
I will be keeping the car at standard height. I find it's got a great balance for everyday drive and a little fun at times also.
The problem I have is a sagging Spring on the off side front. Looking forward to getting both replaced.
It sits about 1.5 to 2 inches lower. It's quite obvious when you look for it.
Makes sense to me, lowering this generation of mac strut cars opens up a whole load of pitfalls.
Great to see a few EV1 people about though, do keep us up to date on progress.
Still waiting on Honda in Japan to send/produce some springs. Latest eta is sept 2016.
Hope it comes sooner than that.
Oh dear. Can identify with that though, took 6 months to get some terminal pins from Honda Japan...
Considering this model was so popular I hoped the spares would be more avalable. I suppose they can't stock everything.
Guess not, but really it is a service part. Surprising they don't have a single pair available.
Still got my old suspension laid about, but i doubt you'd be any better off as after nearly 100K it was probably tired too.
Many thanks for the offer but as you say all new will be best.
Today got an email from lings Honda to say that new eta on the springs is middle of June. Great, I can than crack on with new struts, springs job on the front pretty soon
Oosh! Get in! Good news bud
Keep us posted when they land and your DIY
Type-S passed MOT today with flying colours
Looking forward to my upcoming week off when I plan to replace front struts, springs.
Hope the installation of the new bits goes well
Thanks, I will make sure I photo and upload after I have done the job. Got a pair of new track rod ends too. Might as well replace them whilst I have to disconnect them.
