Just want to gauge how many members have names for their cars.

I don't have one , but Helen has one BESSY!!!

That means when her car goes to her old man my car car will be called BESSY 2nd Generation ... No way

Was curious about this myself. I tend to find naming cars is predominantly a girl thing.

Ps no I haven't named my car.

How about 'Shiva' meaning 'The Auspicious One'. Shiva has notice of everything that happens in the world and is the main aspect in life. Yet one with great power, Shiva is a revealer to bliss ...

No. I find it really weird when people refer to their car as "she" rather than "it".

Mine is Hanna. I had Peugeot 306 which we called Bolek. Still have it/him on my driveway. I'm too emotional to sell "him" cause it was my first car, the one which I learned to drive with. He still has a mission - learn my wife to drive  Ufff...

I used have a Citroen that I used to say Bolek a lot in (well its a word that sounds a lot like that).

Once when me and my eight year old daughter were out for lunch, we ordered tuna sandwiches at a small diner. She forgot to wash her hands before leaving and got into my car and wiped her fingers on the dashboard. Now there's a faint tuna odor in the car. So I have been known to call my car Tuna.

Exactly why are car or any machines refer as feminine? surely a car with a v8 engine sounds all testosterone !

I think it depends from make.
Honda, Toyota, Mazda would be "she", but Ford or Hyundai for example, sounds definitely masculine.
