The Above models are affected, so if you get someone on the forum saying use genuine filters and no non genuine , it can also be this.

    The Symptom
The owner may experience a MIL illumination, (DTC P0087 is stored) and the vehicle goes into limp home mode.

    The Cause
    1. DTC threshold setting was too low.
    2. Control of the valve (MPROP) which controls the high pressure fuel pump was insufficient.

    The Countermeasure
The ECM software has been modified to change the DTC setting threshold and to improve MPROP valve control.

    Repair Method
NOTE: Before you start to troubleshoot, record all freeze data and review the general troubleshooting information. (Refer to the shop manual)
    1. Before attempting this troubleshooting, check whether the DTC P0087 could have been caused by insufficient fuel.
    Is there sufficient fuel?
    • NO: Supply fuel, then go to step 2
    • YES: Go to step 2.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
    3. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
    4. Update the ECU software using HDS Version 3.008.027 or later.
    5. Run the engine and do the FUEL RAIL PRESSURE TEST in the INSPECTION MENU with the HDS.
Then check the test status and for the presence of DTC P0087.
    • If NO DTC is present, and the fuel rail pressure test result is OK (Normal) then the repair is complete.
    • If DTC P0087 is still present, or the fuel rail pressure test Failed then continue troubleshooting as per WSM
