Floating around Salisbury and Stonehenge this week and my Sat Nav decided to fail. Told to consult dealer.

Checked disc and it seems ok, been advised that a new reader unit required so thats now on order for me after a quick phone call to Honda UK.

Any other 8th Genners faced this issue?

Yes mate thats the one. I too was surprised about it because the natural tendency is to assume the disc being damaged, but its not. It was tried in another Accord and was fine.

I had this error as well about a year ago. Disc was fine. DVD-unit replaced under warranty. Problem solved.

I actually had many problems with the satnav:
    1. original unit had no TMC
    2. replaced by faulty refurbished unit (including a destination history in and around Dublin...)
    3. replaced by properly working refurbished unit (which ultimately had the disc error after a couple of months)
    4. replaced by new unit (has been working fine for over a year now)

Got a new set of dvd's as courtesy, though.

Oh yes I will most certainly ask since, by logic, if the reader is being replaced under warranty, then so should the discs.

Thats how I will play it. I will duly update this thread tomorrow.

All fixed but no new discs supplied. Yet.

Been told to run with the existing ones for a while and if no good, they will change them for me.

Saj and Zoran quick question was there luggage in the boot when you had this issue. I have a hunch the DVD rom is the boot and and luggage in it close proximity the luggage is knocking the drive and causing the damage?

As the car goes around the bends the mass of the luggage is sufficient to cause damage?

I had boot full of luggage when I drove to Croatia and Poland the other day but when it stopped working boot was empty, nothing in it.

In my case, absolutely nothing at all in the boot. And just as you are meticulous about cleaning your car CJ, I am just the same when it comes to putting anything in the boot and make sure 50 billion times over that nothing even comes near the DVD unit let alone touch it.
