Hi guys, wanted your thoughts on a problem I've got.
Last night driving down the motorway the car felt a bit weird, wasn't accelerating properly so I thought I'll take it easy and get home. About 5 minutes later the engine light came on and wouldn't let me accelerate at all. I assume this is an electronic engine safety thing, but I can't think of why it would do this. It's been serviced and MOT'd. It's under a year since I got it from honda, and it's a honda guaranteed used car...
I'm taking it to the garage tomorrow, if it is something major do any of you know hondas used car policy? There must be some kind of warantee/guarantee policy right?

    Thanks guys

Can you take a picture of the dash warning just need to see what MIL or warning this is. Its a petrol to go into limp mode mean low oil pressure or lack of engine oil.

I've put oil in today, 10/40w which is what honda said to use.
I had to pull over on the motorway, I restarted the car which reset the light, however I'm sure it'll come again as it's still not accelerating properly.
Orange flashing Iight if that helps at all.

Have you checked the dipstick, strange for Honda dealers to recommend 10w-40 as it no longer recommended by Honda either way you need to look at the oil level.

Which orange light is this ?a picture will help. The dash can give any Christmas tree a run for its money bud.

If you can't get a picture up in time, can you at least describe what the symbol looks like?

    That's engine management light.
Could be anything really, You need to have fault codes read to take guesswork out.
If you bought it from Honda then you should have 12 months warranty with it.

Fantastic, I'll get it to the garage and see what they say.
I'll also have to give honda a call to see what they'll arrange if it costs anything to repair I presume?

Thanks for the help @Ichiban !

If its covered by Honda, then yes, all costs covered by them. Play your cards right and you might even get a free courtesy car as well.

Yes it does. This was taken with the keys in the ignition. Usually the engine light goes out after 10 seconds or so, now it doesn't.

That's the EPS then just need to read the code see what its moaning about and then delete to see if that comes back.

Why would the EPS make the engine cut out?

Interesting safety mechanism, makes sense though!
Well it's booked in first thing in the morning.
I've spoken to my insurance, and they refuse to offer a courtesy car what so ever as i haven't been involved in an accident...

    Cheers guys.
