Electrical & Lights Error Code 25-1 - VSA - Anybody know where Yaw Sensor is?

Discussion in '7th Generation (2003-2008) [Acura TSX]' started by BSR67, Friday 15th Feb, 2013.

Folllowing on from my VSA Light On thread last night, I have called the garage and they found an error via the ECU - 25-1 Yaw Sensor. It won't reset.

Does anybody know where this is and is it an easy change, or is open heart surgery needed?

    Thanks

It's under the driver's seat for the petrol versions. But with the diesel versions (yours) it's right in between the 2 seats. Need to remove the console between the seats. It's a quite big housing for a small sensor, you can't miss it.
But before replacing: worth diagnosing first in a correct way. Thinking of wiring and connectors.
And in case you replace the sensor anyhow, you need to perform 'neutral position memorization'. But you're not at that point yet!

Thanks I-DSI yet another quality German part on the diesel honda.

that DTC code does not look like a Honda code what reader was used? if it was not HDS or snap on you can't remove them even if it was erasable..

You can come to Leeds to me I will have a look at it for free!

    Hi Ichiban,
'25' is a normal Honda code for VSA related issues. Goes roughly from 11 to 99 for VSA, shown by HDS.
VSA is Bosch, right? But is this different for diesels and petrols? Don't know. Thought they all were Bosch.

Thought diesel were the ultra reliable Bosch (yeah right), and the petrols were a Japanese make.

Alex came around at 2 today had a look its not erasing no matter what you do, however HIM picked up the VIN number was not the same and if I would like to input it?

Found that strange but that been rectified now. Alex will get his xcarlink out and look at the wiring if he has disturbed anything for the yaw sensor to throw an error immediately its been erased.

It could be a open wire , bad ground\earth or faulty sensor which is strange!

Many many thanks indeed for your help today IchiBanAccord. It was great to meet you.

Tomorrow, I'll check all the wiring around the XCarLink in the centre console and pull the passenger seat out and check the wiring/earth for the unit. I'll update thereafter.

Thanks also for the servicing advice. Going to book it in for Friday.

On the upside, I got my sons bike going again - failed generator! Electrical gremlins abound in Harrogate!

    Thanks again,

    Alex

Good result with the Aprilia! it was good to meet you too buddy.

For the yaw rate sensor under the passenger seat remove the carpet and you will see this

    CN2 AOCUK Yawrate-lateral acceleration sensor.JPG

RHD type: Remove the passenger's seat.
Turn up the floor carpet (A).
Remove the bracket mounting bolts (B).
Remove the yaw rate/lateral acceleration sensor (C) with the bracket (D).
    Remove the bracket (E).
Install in the reverse order of removal.

The yawrate sensor for your VIN is 39960-SEF- 003 item 21

You're right! For both models under the left seat. Strange, in MaRIS2 I would swear I got different info first for diesel and petrol. Can't find that again. Always under the seat no matter how I search now. My mistake.

Hopefully, I'm not daft, but the Yaw sensor is NOT under the passenger seat! Maybe that's the error!!

I took the passenger seat out and there was nothing under the carpet, except a couple of sweet wrappers!

No obvious disturbance around the XCarLink install either.

    All very odd.

Cannot find the unit between the seats either as has been suggested.

    Any ideas Chaps?

    Thanks

Maybe its under the drivers seat ... Will check.

I couldn't find it under the drivers side either!

    Any ideas Chaps?

Perhaps this sensor is tiny - but the images don't infer that it is.

Going to end up at Honda at this rate!

    Thanks

    IchiBanAccord

There is nothing there! Just a dirty great big gap.

Here's a strange hypothesis - has there been a problem in the past and somebody has removed the sensor in order to avoid an £800 repair? Is it POSSIBLE to overide/confuse/fox the cars CPU?

It's all very very very odd.

The cable you can see is NOT for the yaw rate sensor, its the seat sensor feed.

You can see from the centre console photo that the XCarLink is innocent. All totally strange and bizarre.

I've bought a SH YAw Rate sensor from eBay for £43!

    Suggestions???

PS - Found the Crunchie wrapper and fag packet wrapper where the sensor should be!

This is bizarre :Aghast: is the workshop manual wrong then? find that so strange as Honda workshop manuals are so accurate

    where the hell is it?

Your hypothesis of this being removed does ring a bell as your VIN number on your car did not match the one my HIM picked up!!

I can see the two 10mm holes under the seat where it should be , has some put resistor on the line to trick the sensor ?
