Car is running great, covered just over 1000 miles.
Not run in yet, getting 35+ MPG round town and 46+ MPG on a longer drive.
Cleaning today, topped up windscreen wash and noted engine coolant expansion tank was AT minimum level.
From what I've been able to gather, this is normal with a cold engine?
Radiator cap removal revealed a full radiator, but was a little confused with expansion tank level being so low?
Will check further with dealer but expect level to rise in expansion tank with hot engine.
Guess will know more tomorrow, just about to tow for a hundred mile or so.
    Update soon.

That almost sounds like skimping in all the wrong places.

Thanks to all for advice and concern.
Returned from trip with caravan, car performing well, as expected.
    Kept watch of coolant level.
Radiator full and expansion bottle still at minimum level, rising ever so slightly when engine hot.
Called into local Honda dealer and was assured from service engineer, "ALL the new CR-V's are like that sir, nothing to worry about, it's normal. Just as long as it doesn't go below minimum level, it's fine"

My 2014 CR-V 2.2idtec has no fluid in the expansion tank. Take radiator cap off and the radiator is full to the brim.
The expansion tank is higher than the radiator cap and hence if you open the cap will the expansion tank empty?
Most cars with expansion tanks don't have radiator caps, they are a sealed system so I'm not sure why Honda have a cap and a tank. Sounds like boots and braces engineering.
Have wondered a couple of times if this needs topping up. Then forgot to ask dealer. Don't want to top up and over-pressurize the system.
    Advice please

The expansion bottle should never be empty it has a low and high level marking I would top it up buddy.

As CJ said top up to the max on a cold engine
This might be a small amount of air in the system still as its a new car.
Keep an eye on it and if it drops again there is a problem.

My coolant had fallen below min by the time I got home from the dealers. Went back and they topped it up - it's stayed full since then

Thanks for your replies. Spoke to dealer while I was passing and they would have topped it up for free. Did not have car with me and for £5.35 didn't seem worth driving back to fetch it. Apparently 2.2idtec can use a little coolant from time to time. Will keep an eye on it though just in case there is a hose that wants nipping up.
