This issue is seen on all 2009,10 & 11 Accord saloon & Tourers. The affected chassis are CU1,CU2,CU3,CW1,CW2 & CW3.

    The Symptom

The front windshield Side Garnish becomes detached.

    The Cause

The garnish retainer area did not have sufficient area to prevent detachment.

    The Fix

Retainer area surface finish improved. Please note this garnish needs to be removed and all traces of the old glue and retainers have been removed.

Cleaning the surface area thoroughly prior to the new garnish fitting is imperative.

    TIP
Ideally ask the dealer to keep the car in the garage for a day as the longer for the adhesive to set. Book your car in with a loaner car.

The technicians have a lot of prep work to do to ensure the new garnish and it retainers latch on correctly, if the weather is below 8 degrees C the adhesive will take longer to set.

Heat guns will make the drying time quicker.

    windscreen clips

    Next q guys lol.

My drivers side windscreen trim is broken where the screen had been replaced.I didn't get the dealer to rectify it when I bought it as its a relatively cheap fix and I could knock more money off than I would be laying out to fix it myself.
Anyway, bought new clips from the dealer but have no idea what to secure them with? Any ideas-epoxy resin won't work and I can keep using duct tape lol

    Tigerseal should do the trick.

well if it coming off repeatedly it could be one of the following reason. This SHOULD not be happen this is not a fault with the revised trim and clips.

    Wrong procedure and technique
    Not following the repair method.
Low temperature when the repair was done.
    Incorrect adhesive used.
Insufficient curing time for the adhesive to cure

Interesting seeing this as both mine are coming loose at the top.
So is it being good willed by Honda because its a known issue or do we have to pay?

You can always try if you go into your local dealer and speak to the service staff, don't call up and request it you will be give the typical fob off..

Never know if the staff are in a good mood you may get a GOGW in your favour. as they say no harm in trying.

Top of mine is loose both sides, no chance out of warranty though, I'll try it myself with araldite or similar.

just back from honda, i told them i knew the glue was a previous issue and the bloke said that they are aware of it and have now started using different stuff, they replaced the clips and glued it down again, he says it only takes about an hour to harden properly and so far they have had noone returning with the new stuff, so we'll see how long it lasts this time

Same problem with my car, passenger side trim loose. Car went into local dealership today for repair, member of service team advised me car ready for collection but technician not happy with the repair.
When I collected the car the trim was loose 2/3rd of the way down, by the time I arrived home the trim was standing proud of the bodywork. Apparently, Honda wouldn't authorise a new trim under warranty just the retaining clips.
The car is only 2 years old so still covered under warranty. Dealership to contact Honda and arrange for new trim to be supplied and fitted under warranty; not a happy bunny!!

Was the adhesive set indoors and for 24 hours and in a warmish temperature ? If not you will see a repeat of this . Speak to Honda customer relation very poor customer service from that dealer.

Not sure if repair was carried out indoors, the dealership uses a specialist windscreen company to do the work.

From dropping the car off to collecting the car after repair was about 6 hours. I'm going to speak to the service manager tomorrow about the repair process. The car is going back for 2nd attempt on thursday, so will keep you informed.
