Just started up the wife's car and let it idle ready to go fill it up and there's a strong smell of petrol fumes coming from it. My first reaction is noticing how much I miss the smell of petrol!

    Is that wrong? Lol

Such perfumes exist, they just don't sell very well :Frown:

Off the top of my head, one of the best rated was called Garage CDG

The smell of the hydrocarbons of cars and motorcycles with carburettors is :zen: motoring nirvana. Poor diesels:focus:you just have to vomit and choke.

Our petrol Toyota's exhaust does smell surprisingly pleasant when first started from cold, but when very hot (after a caning) it has a definite whiff of rotten eggs/hydrogen sulfide about it.

Odour of Chrysanthemums is one thing, but Odour of Benzene quite another!

That's why I'm glad I've got a petrol mower love the smell of the stuff!

Problem is it makes winter seem longer having to wait till spring to get the petrol smell again.

I'm sure it will help to run the engine every week or two in the winter... Just to ensure she is okay of course.

Great minds think alike @Nels the neighbours might think I'm mad but I get the mower out every so often in winter and give it a quick run to warm it through.

I always think it's a bit unfair to expect an engine to sit 4 - 6 months over the winter to then fire it up come spring and expect it just to work hard just like that. (Same with my central heating I give it a 10 min run every few weeks through the summer.)

    Ditto.
If you don't use it, it may stop working altogether!
