    Hi all,

Does anybody have the figures for the 5 and 6 speed gear boxes on the 2.2CDTI engine?

Im buying an accord in the next couple of weeks and I can't really afford the facelift model most seem to be over 5k but the 2005 model is a steal at only around 4k. Would the six speed box help my fuel consumption much? I do 15k miles a year 85% motorway.

    Prefacelift Gearbox ratio.(Saloon)
    Gear ratio 1st 3.933
    2nd 2.037
    3rd 1.250
    4th 0.883
    5th 0.687
    Reverse 4.008
Final reduction Type Single helical gear
    Gear ratio 3.285
    Facelift Gearbox ratio.(Saloon)
    Gear ratio 1st 3.933
    2nd 2.037
    3rd 1.314
    4th 0.975
    5th 0.777
    6th 0.653
    Reverse 4.008
Final reduction Type Single helical gear
    Gear ratio 3.785

Not a lot of difference but for high speed cruising the facelift makes good sense due to its taller final ratio. Facelift car is more suited for autobahns blast and a taller third gear.

I've been playing about with this trying to figure out the perfect ratios i want to get in a custom box i will get built for my car

MFactory Competition Products - Forged Transmission Components

At the moment im swaying towards all 6 EP3 gears but using the Accords 4.388 final drive to stretch the gearing slightly so its more suited to the 7200rpm limit.

I find 6th very economical on my 2.4 petrol...it makes a lot more difference than I thought it would.

Initially im just gonna use the standard 225/45/17 tyres on my 8" wide wheels. Although in the future i really want to go for a 9" wide wheel up front with at most a 245 section tyre, again im not sure on what profile i'd go with yet but it'd definately be a 17" diameter wheel. Im not bothered about mismatched wheels either so i'd only change the fronts, unless i can get a RWD staggered set of wheels and use them staggered for FWD with the 9j at the front and the 8j on the back with a standard 225/45/17 tyre. The japs have been doin staggered FWD setups for years and it works for them so i wanna give it a go too since im gonna be seeing plenty tracktime.

The guy who bought maz from hond-r's mugen kitted CL9 has just swapped the entire EP3 internals into his CL9 gearbox, he's said its much more suited to the car as i'd assumed. Just waiting to hear more back from him about how he's finding it day to day

Guys, may i know if the gear ratio for CL7 Manual 5 speed (Pre FaceLift - Petrol) is the same with the ratio of the 2.2 Pre FL Diesel engine?

If anyone can share the ratio for PreFL 5speed Manual CL7, that would be great. (and other gear ratio [CL7 Facelift, CL9 PreFL and FL] etc).

    Thank you for the links!

So based on the info on that forum, mine would be either these two? What can I do to confirm which one is mine? (and I assume VIN starting with JHM = Honda Japan? )

You should see gearbox code from top under gear selector lines, white paper strip.
