The gear knob on my '04 Civic Type-S is looking a little tattered (and I just don't like the way it feels). Any suggestions on a decent (not too pricey) replacement ?

I got this one for my Accord and I would recommend it.
It is brilliant, not cheap but good.

Ta for the reply. I was actually looking at the 5-speed Skunk2 earlier
Would you know if I need to take the gaiter off to get the gear knob off ? I tried unscrewing mine and the metal / plastic bit connecting it to the gaiter twists with it.

Not sure on Civic but on my Accord gear knob just was screwed on and I had no need to take gaiter off.
IIRC gaiter was twisted to one side and pulled down.

Richbrook ones are high quality and much cheaper than Skunk2

I would recommend the Skunk2 too - don't buy them off eBay unless you're certain its genuine though. There are literally hundreds of fakes for sale - Tegiwa have them for £48 IIRC.

Thanks. They only seem to have the 6 speed one though :-(

There's many potential brands you could go for, you're not limited here. You could elect for another OEM knob from other models, or some of the other big JDM names like Mugen, Spoon, Feels etc, or even just an eBay cheapie.

I'm quite sure the 7th Generation Civic is covered in my quote below, if you can confirm the size and thread pitch you should be alright
