Time for another service and my wipers need replacing also.

Halfords for 0W30 Castrol Edge C3 £47 per 4 litres. Costco is £30 for exactly the same. That's £34 saving for the 8 litres I've bought.

Front wipers, £19 each for Bosch at Halfords. £7 each for Mitchellin at Costco. £24 saving.

    Total saving £58. That's crazy!!!

thats quite a saving especially as thats only 2 service items, imagine if you needed plugs, air and fuel filter aswel.

It would be handy if Costco did air and pollen filters but alas they don't but there's always Eurocarparts etc. With Oil and Fuel filters I always go OEM. But still, that £58 will help cover the extra bits. I'm not sure about doing the fuel filter with this service, I'm sure it was done six months ago by Honda so I may just leave it. Looks like a bit of pain to get to also.

It's hardly fair comparing a retail store to a wholesaler that requires membership. That said, no wonder Halfords survived the recession, with mark ups like that and rip off I'll do it for you services they have rode it out nicely.

Add the £20 membership in and I'm still making a decent saving! I don't use them much but I love their ribs. Halfords can be handy though but their oil is far too expensive.

For the Accord, EuroCarParts often have the Bosch wipers for £3+ passenger (19") and £5+ driver without spolier (22") when on a deal. They last me about 2yrs so decent performance at that price. Shell Helix 10w-40 Semi can be had for £18/5ltr from them so that goes into the 6th Generation too.

Or get yourself a trade card for Halfords :Niceone: I got mine when I did a college course for City & Guilds motorcycle maintenance. If you're self employed I think you also qualify. There are good savings to be had. EG. bulbs which normally cost £3 a pack I get for 50p  Castrol oil I was getting £6 - 10 off for 4 litres.

I know not everyone will be eligible, but for those who are that don't know give it a try.

Always get my oil from ECP or CP4L, cheapest by far for Castrol Magnatec, I also always keep a 1 litre bottle as spare in the boot, these are usually ridiculously priced at usual high street stores and online retail like £15, £5 less than a 4 litres, but ECP tend to do it for £7 so get it from there.

The only thing I get regularly from Halfrauds is the screenwash, otherwise they are expensive, even for things like bulbs, £10 for h7, £4 from ECP for regular h7's.

Bit of info, just phoned Halfords and asked for a trade price for Castrol Edge 0W/30 as advertised at £46.99, with trade card discount it is reduced to £35.24 saving £11.75.

Worth a punt if you're eligible.

Amazon was the next best by only a couple of pence so very good, Halfords mark up their stuff a lot almost pricing themselves out of the question. There are some very good deals out there and packages of multiples make it cheaper too, especially if you have a 2.2 diesel which take 6 litres!

Seen it online for around 1500 quid, so yeah, not a bad price. The rack was almost clear of them too, had 2 left from 2 pallets
