    Hello,

I'm about to buy a '10 plate Accord Tourer (diesel EX model) with 90k on the clock. All looks very clean.

As a newcomer to the marque, is there anything I should look out for?

    Thanks in advance

    Richard

    Hi Rpe, welcome to AOC.

Have a read through the 8th Generation section if you haven't already.

There's a thread there on Diesel vs Petrol. If your not doing the mileage or if your only doing town driving then a petrol may suit you better as the DPF on the diesels does not like constant short journeys.

Other that I can't think of anything, the 8th Generation Accord diesel is a solid reliable car

    Thanks, I'll have a read.

I'm planning on a 2.2 diesel and not too many short journeys.

    Welcome Richard,

Just to reassure you there is not a lot to look out on the 8th Generation diesel , however if its a manual check for slipping clutch. Check for any missing services and all of the service should have 12500 miles in-between each of them and within the year period . If they don't make sure you negotiate the price.

if I were you I would do a full service of the car using the correct diesel engine oil.

    Correct.

To be honest with a car with a DPF, I'd much rather it has been up and down the motorways than tootling around the town. It also has full dealer SH.

Thanks to all with their comments.

    Regards

    Richard

Going to see/ collect tomorrow - wish me luck.

I asked them to check the sunroof - I'm told it is clean. Just to be clear on this, the rust issue manifests itself in the metal frame around the glass (not the car body) correct?

    Thanks in advance

    Richard

    Well, I've taken the plunge!

I drove it 90 odd miles from Leicester to Hampshire and found it very comfortable and smooth. I brim filled it when I bought it and the gauge hasn't moved from it's starting position from north of the full mark.

There is no discernible rust on the sunroof (thanks for the pointers).

Just need to eradicate the last of a lingering smokey smell.

I'll post some pics tomorrow (if that is the done thing).

    Thanks to all

    Richard

Hi Richard you can use the IMG code for inserting pictures from Photobucket or other picture sharing sites , however we prefer to upload them onto the site as they will remain here for good.

have a proper read of this .. top tip always inset pictures in the Go Advance option and not by post Quick reply.
