    hi bought a 2000 honda accord but has miss fire helpppppppppppppppppppp
    was told might be ignition coil so new one fitted but still not right a bit better but not %100 need to try ignition leads next but they look fine any other ideas guys please

    HI Reggae,

    There's actually a whole list of things that could cause misfire. But start with the basics, ensure spark plugs are clean and in good condition.
    You've already checked the ignition coil and leads.

    Look for air leaks. Make sure the connectors to each fuel injector are pressed on correctly.

    You can also get a pliers and pull each spark plug wire with the engine running, be careful not to shock yourself. If you pull a wire on a good cylinder, there will be a noticeable miss and drop in RPM. Pull a plug wire on a misfiring cylinder, and there will no change.

    You can check spark at the end of each plug wire.


    That's the basic checks, more advanced checks would to verify the ignition timing is set correctly. This video will give you an idea how to do that :-



    Check valve clearance and cylinder compression.
