Please be gentle with me as im a newbie on here and a first time CR-V owner [second hand]
can anyone advise me if the HONDA ACCORD 2.2 CTDI DIESEL INTERCOOLER would fit my 2006crv 2.2 CTDI Sport
as I've been told this is whats causing the excess black smoke at high revs
all advice would be much appreciated
    many thanks in advance

Hey @trikimiki, welcome to the club :welcome:

Unfortunately not, the intercoolers are very different in design between the two models:

    B__0505. B__0505.

    Hi Mik and welcome.

What was plan B... spraying soapy water all over the intercooler and checking for a leak? That'd be a good plan!

after spraying all i see are a couple of very small bubbles at the bottom left corner but im now getting told the main problem could be the EGR valve
unfortunatly i only drive em and not fix em

A leak is a leak... it could get worse.

Boost leak, worn turbo, EGR valve, IMRC... there are a number of common reasons for the otherwise magnificent 2.2 I-CTDI engine to produce a bit of smoke under certain conditions. If the economy is good, it's passing the MOT and - very importantly - the engine oil isn't being consumed, then ignoring it is a valid option IMHO (or not revving it so high before shifting up). It's best not to try every random fix that springs to mind, if you are really concerned about the issue then take it to somebody (doesn't have to be a Honda dealer, but that should be an option) who has a Honda Diagnostic System (HDS) so they can run interactive diagnostics on all the engine sub-systems and find which one is sub-optimal. Mine noticeably smokes a bit when I hoof it at high RPM, but passes all HDS tests.

Have a search of the forum, or start a thread on the issue if none of the existing advice helps you. But cleaning the EGR valve is reasonably simple, free and wouldn't hurt.
