how will this car NOT sell in the UK !!!
If KIA can sell its Optima, Honda can very well sell the Accord.

Its an absolute disgrace that we have NO option to buy this car.

shame on the catastrophic management practices for HUK ... I really wish the parent company would do something about the criminal decisions being made here.

    DISGUSTING

I would have bought that without even looking at anything else.

Accord number 6. Obviously that's too much like good business for HUK!

Honda UK right now are pitiful. Their lineup is a pathetic waste compared to the Honda of circa 2000 for example. Cars like the Legend, Insight, Integra, S2000, Civic Coupe, Accord Coupe. Where are they all now? Pathetic!!!:Rant::Rant:

    Sorry @John Dickson
I love my 7th Generation with a passion but this beats all previous Accords hands down.

That is one nice looking Accord, but I cannot forgive them for the optional extra of lace doilies for seat top covers!

I actually met someone working for Honda the other day. Apparently Honda lost upto 8k per Accord in the last of the years due to unfavourable exchange rates.

That's just a lame excuse to cull the Accord, at the same time other manufacturers that solely rely on importing were doing just fine, go figure !

I had a look in to this just to see if the statement holds any water.. (i know someone here will rip apart my calculations and assumptions because of xyz mistakes but im no mathematician so this is the best i can do)

Assuming we wanted to buy an ES GT I-DTEC which costed about £26,320 in 2008 and for comparison's sake same in 2012. In 2008 £26,320 would have bought you 5,576,271 Yen worth of car. Yet in 2012 your £26,320 would have only gotten you 3,221,542 yens .. so there was a short fall of almost £19,238 ... I cannot see Honda trying to charge £45,558 for the same car.. so I guess they had to absorb the loss and simply decided to drop the model..

    Yen per GBP.PNG

Then there were the sales numbers! I guess they didn't want to market a loss leading model because it was profitable for them to NOT sell it at all..

Honda to phase out Accord in the UK? - Autoblog
'The strong Japanese yen has pressured the profits of every export model built there. But exerting even more pressure than that on the Accord are the European market's moves to small SUVs and to cars with a lower CO2 tax. Autocar says the Accord is down to about 2,500 sales per year. By comparison, the D-segment Vauxhall Insignia sold 2,949 units in May alone. Admittedly there will be brisk business and fleet sales bolstering that number, but the essentially five-year-old Nissan Qashqai moved 4,775 units in June.'

    Meanwhile in USA

Yes the same year (2012) they shifted almost 30,000 per month in USA.

BUT the way the rates are going and IF Honda can come up with small turbo engine I see no reason why in future a newer model Accord cannot be introduced?

I always found it strange how in the case of the Accord it was uneconomic to import form Japan and then guess where the new Jazz is made? :cockywhistle:

    Fair point actually.
But Jazz is not exactly cheap is it? Starts around £13,495 while Civic was around £14,995 uptil a few months ago. (Now with the price rise it starts around £16k).
Yen has been devalued as well although not as much as before.

This granny curtain seat cover is seen as very luxurious to the japs. Literally every single car brochure I have for the likes of Legend and Elysion showed this as an option.

Mazda seem to be doing well and they're all made in Japan.
