TBH with a surface area so large it's always best to spray with a spray gun, if you don't have that then you need to get it done by a bodyshop. Spray cans just don't cut it.

I suggest you buy this took to safely remove push pins you will never need to use screwdriver or pliers.
The two offsets covers all awkward positions and you will save loads in damaged pins which are a quid plus a pop... damage a dozen you will soon know the real cost.
I would personally not use petrol as a wipe , but use panel wipe panel wipe | eBay with lint free wipes 3M VHB Applicator Pads. Box 100. Panel wipe. | eBay in straight lines changing sides quickly and remove using the side once used.
Petrol leaves a oily residue which is not good when you laying paint it will react. get a few tac clothes too for final wipe.
