You mean the black cilinder, connected to the grey connector? Hard to see on the picture what is broken.

Yes there's like a black nozzle part facing upwards that has broken off

That's a problem, because this will create false air. This part is connected to the vacuum system.

Sure, it's called: EGR Control Solenoid Valve.
Controlled by vacuum air. If that vacuum circuit is not fully closed anymore you may expect problems.

Isn't a part missing? This is more than jus a broken nipple, isn't it? Was there some kind of filter (?) fitting on what is left from the nipple, between the two plates?

Hard to believe you would not have noticed rough idling and coughing and spluttering with a broken IMRC.

It's only the filter that's broken. Problems will come by time, not immediately. Dirt gets in now and one day it will stop working.

    Thats great news
I managed to damage mine when i first bought the car - whilst changing the air filter box housing. Due to the air filter box housing being heavily scratched
I also managed to get it second hand for £35. Definitely cheaper than Honda. lol

Car does seem to run a bit better and turbo seems to pull a bit stronger and MPGS seem to have improved, for £35 worth keeping it up to scratch and peace of mind
