Hi all. This is our first Honda CR-V. So far, very impressed by the driving and the comfort. Bought it from a Glasgow dealer 1 week ago. When we park there is a distinct hot smell when you get out of the driver's door (RHD). Is this just the cat and should I be worried?

What type of smell - first thing that pops to mind is the rear brake caliper on the drivers side.

Thanks for that. The first thing I did was feel the wheel hubs and none of them are even slightly warm.

It's a typical hot engine smell, as it would be if it was low on coolant but it isn't coming from under the bonnet. Don't catalytic converters run very hot?

Yes but they don't smell of anything.

Also, your cat will be under the car not under the bonnet.

That's where the smell is coming from, not from under the bonnet.

Have you had a look under, something plastic may have got stuck on to the heat shield.

That's a good idea, I will get under and have a proper look. Thanks. It doesn't sound like the exhaust is blowing.

I haven't, as yet. I'll post the solution when I find it.
