In the past Honda had given separate oil checking procedures for both petrol and diesel engine. Now they have revised the oil checking procedure.Honda (UK) recommends that oil level is checked on a regular basis - ideally when refuelling, this applies to both Petrol and Diesel models.

Procedure for general engine oil level check

    1. Ensure that the engine has reached normal operating temperature.
    2. Park the vehicle on level ground, switch off the engine and wait for approximately 3 minutes before checking.
    3. Withdraw the dipstick and wipe clean. Insert the dipstick fully.
    4. Withdraw the dipstick and hold horizontally while reading, to ensure that oil does not run up or down the dipstick.
    5. The oil level should be between the maximum and minimum marks on the dipstick.

Take care not to overfill the engine with oil as this can also result in serious engine damage.
Honda and Castrol have made this document for owners. Please ignore other oil checking procedures
