I emailed TORQUE GT in Devon regarding the import of used 9th Generation Accord. They have asked for chassis prefix to be certain they can, can anyone advise this information for the various Accord models sold in Japan including the Hybrid?

TORQUE GT import Honda Intega's, Accord Type-R & other high performance Japanese cars, & there are other similar specialists, so if Honda will not sell 9th Generation Accords in UK there are others who probably will do so.

can't assist really with your question however I will say that I drove a 9th Generation in Australia and it was absolutely gorgeous, it really was. So quiet and refined. Just glided over the road

Definitely interested in seeing how feasible this would be.

I assume warranty would be non-existent then there would also be the need for rustproofing to give it a chance with the average British winter.

You never know if it is feasible and if enough of us do it then Accord could officially come back. That's why we get Type UK Subaru Impreza STIs. There were so many greys imported Subaru UK took the decision to import officially.

The Accord Hybrid is to be discontinued after 2015 & diesel not popular for cars in Japan so petrol 2.4 or 3.0 most likely to be the models available.

Bit surprised about lack of interest in this topic.

Surprised Hybrid is being discontinued in Japan - thought they loved their hybrids but obviously not.

Would love to see what happens to Honda sales figures here after a few years. Think I'll be keeping this Accord for as long as I can unless there is a new one launched of course. I'm on holiday at the moment so had a couple of days out and the most common Honda model I have seen was the Accord and 8th Generation at that!

(Saw a very smokey 07 ICTDI CR-V yesterday which pulled out of a junction on A1 and almost turned day into night when he floored it)

There was a nice Accord-sized space in the middle of the showroom at Newcastle Honda last Friday.......... :fingerscrossed:

I'm interested in this topic but I think import duty and VAT would add a considerable cost to the purchase and may make this option rather unattractive.

The current Accord Hybrid is apparently being discontinued as Honda will be producing a plug in hybrid & fuel cell powered cars instead.

If importing a 9th Generation Accord it would have to be second hand to be economically viable. The importers like TORQUE GT change speedo from kph to mph, this is switchable as standard on an S2000, thoroughly service the car, change all drive belts, carry out any pre-agreed modifications, rust proof & make the car road legal for UK. They have technical people in Japan who inspect cars to make sure they are in good condition before buying & exporting to UK.

I bought my 2009 reg 2.4EXi one previous owner car with 30.5k miles when it was 3.5 years old & have since only done 12.5k miles in last 3 years as it is a wonderfully refined alternative drive to my S2000, in such circumstances a second hand petrol 9th Generation Accord would suit me fine. Not far away is an independent garage that services all sorts of exotic cars & an ex Honda master technician I know well works there so servicing would not be a problem. Incidentally running two "old" cars can be cheaper than running one new car when depreciation is considered, in fact similar 09 reg S2000's are now selling for about £3k more than when I bought mine two years ago.

I agree with John that it will be interesting to see how Honda sales in UK go in near future. I know it influenced our decision to buy my wife's 4th Generation CR-V as its made in UK, so when production switches to Canada sales could take a further hit. The new HR-V, made in Mexico, is being criticised for lack of refinement, especially due to "boom" periods in the petrol version, & numbers are to be limited with USA having priority. I think Honda has always lost out in UK by not developing cars like Audi etc have done with all their range including the TT. In USA Honda sell a good selection of models & its a pity a similar policy has not been adopted in Europe. If the German car manufacturers can cope with EU regulations I am sure Honda could do likewise.

I would certainly be interested in buying a 9th Generation car even left hand drive. I live just 13 miles SW of Cambridge so not too far to come & view if any up for sale.
Can you PM me on this so we can exchange details?

Regarding parts, are these 9th Generation Accords USA models as they may be different to Euro 9th Generation Accords. There is a central Honda distribution centre in Belgium & another in Swindon where Honda UK buys parts. Local service manager advised that when he tried to order a part for a Japanese sourced Honda NSX Honda UK would not allow the part to be ordered!

These are u.s. models and I would imagine they are different. I don't think the 3.5l v6 will be released in Europe.

Search on Google indicates that Trade Car View may be a scam. Best to organise any purchase from Japan through company in UK EG JM or Torque.

Notification of post from SG did eventually arrive.
Having read more about Trade Car View it is a website where Japanese wheeler dealers advertise & some are legit but many are not & Trade View Cars do nothing to regulate.

I did get mine all fine yes. Like I said if you use that site, you need to carefully check the reviews of the dealers before deciding to commit.

I guess the safety way is to use an import company here, it should only cost you a few hundred pounds more going through an agent here but at least you have some piece of mind.

My end goal is actually to import something like an DC5 (at somepoint down the line) so I was more just testing the water with importing the Edix.

Just found this site on line this evening. no idea what they are like as a company to deal with but it says you can import Accord Hybrid for less than UK MRP of CR-V EX

I would insert the "Party" smiley here but they don't seem to be working here tonight

Hmm ... I've saved this for future when I'm looking for an upgrade  Jade would be nice for £20k. They say no more charges other than their cost+shipping, etc. Would it need any import fees paid once in the UK?
