There we have it a very random order as are some you would imagine would be cheaper than others but aren't for example the Civic Type-S which is a 1.6 and 109bhp is actually cheaper to insure than a crappy Daewoo Matiz with 1.0 and 62bhp

He really likes the look of the Type-S and is a gorgeous car for just £999 and the 7th cheapest to insure so not bad at all.

He would also be able to join HK with that beauty and will try my best to stop him modifying it much as is gorgeous just as it is plus will make his insurance go up so might aswel wait until has a few NCB's under his belt

Not too bad. You seem to have missed Yaris. You can get 1.0, 1.3 and if you are lucky a 1.5 Tsport which will leave even the Type-S for dust. I ended up with a 1.0 Yaris as my first car as it was the cheapest to buy (£200) and cheapest to insure (£1350, if I paid up front). That is with a sort of risky postcode in London. Oh and I was over 25.

Yes I did forget the Yaris to be fair but like the Aygo and Matiz no young lad will want one as ugly

When my daughter passed her test in Feb of last year her first car was a Corsa 1.0, with me as a named driver quotes came in at excess of £1000, with me not a named driver quotes sub £1000, needless to say dad was well and truly dumped.

    Holy smokes!! £1700!!! That's crazy.
But yeah try removing yourself and see if that changes. Other things that affect premiums is where the car is parked etc and job title.

Well TSport will be a better comparison 109bhp 1.5 VVTI in a 850kg car.... It will be faster than a Type-S  doesn't look too bad with the factory kit.
