    hi guys,

Just have bought my second Honda Accord. Big fan of this website and made in Japan Accords.

I have been looking at autotrader very regularly, and a 2012 facelift 2.4 mannual alabaster silver was been sold for £9980 to me (no discount). It is a very clean example interior leather is like new and outer body work is pretty good too.

It was advertised as having full honda dealership history, so I phoned up the honda dealer and went through the history. It has now got 65k miles and it was serviced at honda dealer every 12k miles using castrol edge 0w-20. Whilst going through the history with them it was realised the air filter hadn't been changed so I have done myself now.

Car was a company car and rides on michelin pilot sport 3 tyres. Had a look via the oil filer cap engine is very clean and no varnish. Thanks castrol. Also happy as no rust underneath car! Wasnt expecting to to buy this but there are very difficult to find in this price and condition - seen some others in bad condition.

Slight problem I hear a little vibration from passenger side door - any ideas guys ??

Will post some pics over the weekend.

Also picture of air filter. Was worried it might have tore apart after 65k but it still stood strong. Toyi roki you make the best air filters

Could the rattle be the seat belt buckle against the pillar? I had this and only found it when I had a passenger belted up the rattle was not present.

Congrats on the new car. Loving my tourer atm. I had a rattle coming from the passenger side. Turned out to be the pull bar to slide the seat back and forward. Some sparky tape wrapped round the contact area sorted it.

I have an 09 reg. one previous owner 2.4EXi saloon purchased at 3.5 years/30k miles & have done 14k miles in last 3 years. Just had alignment done by a specialist & car now drives better than it ever did after 4 attempts over the years by Honda main dealer.
Honda 0W-20 oil was added at 6th year service in August 15 & have been using BP Super petrol now for several months hence now usually obtaining calculated 35mpg on local off peak 15 mile journeys & on 30 miles journey from Royston to Hoddersdon in Herts returned 40mpg both ways by keeping to about 60mph on dual carriageways.
Only problem has been sticking os rear calliper this year which caused uneven pad wear. Honda dealer wanted over £400 plus Vat just for new calliper part. Had work done by independent garage, where ex Honda master technician works, & cost was £156 plus Vat for reconditioned Honda calliper part. The old calliper was returned for reconditioning.
However, provided Honda dealer continues to provided Honda Assistance free of charge with annual service, you usually have to ask for this, I will continue to get scheduled service work done by Honda dealer but all non scheduled work, EG brakes services, done by independent.
Remember to check sunroof for rust, mine was not too rusty but Honda dealer got it changed free of charge without any quibbles.
Best saloon car I have ever owned, congratulations on finding one, there are usually non for sale in particularly manuals. I am hoping mine will increase in value like my S2000 has, but S2000's took about four years after production ceased in 2009 before prices started rising.

    Guys, thanks for the feedback.

I spent nearly one year looking at autotrader and finally this car came up. I had to travel from London to stoke for this car but it was worth the time. I haven't had lots of pour it to travel as work is very busy.

I try to buy once and keep something for a while - so hopefully this car with me for next ten years. Only use honda parts on car and will be over servicing car (EG 5k oil changes).

This engine does fell quite smooth - how many miles can these go before they need work?

Ops- my sentence above doesn't make sense and I don't know how to edit! I meant to say I'm too busy at work and haven't driven the car a lot.

Anyway how well engineered is the k24z3 engine. Is it robust enough for sport driving or should there be precaution

All K series engines are solid and reliable. Mine is a 2004 K24A3 with 156K miles on it and I've embarrassed many an expensive newer german car, as the engine still pulls as strong as it always has.

Nothing to worry about here @Denso23

Regular oil changes and let engine get up to temperature before giving it beans you got nothing to worry about.

Service brakes at least once/year especially the back ones, fully extend pistons to check for any corrosion & exercise them . On the 2.4EXi a tool to turn the piston as it is pushed back is not required as on 2.0 engine cars, @Ichiban should be able to confirm. On my car the NSR & OSR of replaced calliper pistons pushed back with hand pressure. The front twin pot pistons did require a standard tool to push them back.

My kids can cause chaos so to protect the rear seats I bought the honda plastic seat cover for the rear. They fit very well and recommend to all
