I've had a bit of a search around, but couldn't find any definitive answers. Are lowering springs a viable safe option for my CM2? I would only want to lower 20-30mm. I'm just worried about tire / shock wear, not sure how a lowering spring would affect the latter though.

Yes. Unfortunately Eibach have stopped making the Pro-Kit for them.

Apex still produce a kit for the tourer though, although I would highly reccommend some uprated shocks when using them as there are times where it acts more like a diesel volkswagen than a Honda with a big floaty front end on bumps.

The eibachs although a better spring give a very level drop, which makes the tourer look like it is dragging its arse down the road and I have never driven a Honda that was enjoyable with a level or reverse rake ride height/stance. The Apex, give a nose down stance which is far more aestethically pleasing and allows for much more positive turn in.

OK, so perhaps eventually replacement height adjustable coilovers would be a better option?

Not if you want to retain any form of drivability. To be able to retain decent levels of comfort you need to spend proper money.

Anyone who insists their £500 coil overs are great had simply never experienced decent suspension and should be placed on an ignore list.
