    IT'S STARTED

Been putting off modding this and just leaving it stock, but I just can't help myself

    Picked these wheels up.

    IMG_7861. IMG_7862. IMG_7863. IMG_7864.

They're in need of a good refurb. So that's next.
But I'm missing one of the centre caps

    IMG_7865.

If anyone knows where I can source one please let me know!
Or I'm going to have to run them without the centres.

Found this pic by 6TWO1 on the Impact14 blog

    14520506773_309676a2d1_b.

In other news. MOT a few weeks back. Failed.

    Fails:
    • Steering rack gaitor split
    • Drop link dust covers split.
    • Insufficient handbrake.
    • Blow from Downpipe.
First 3 are easy fixes so thats no problem.
Finding a downpipe for this car could be troublesome, hence my post in Engine section to see if I can find another compatable one.
Going to try and weld it for now as a temporary fix.

    no worries @DeviateDefiant
    Better update it now
    - - - Updated - - -
    Small update

    MOT repairs:
    Steering rack gaitor replaced.
    Drop link dust covers replaced.
Rear brake pads removed cleaned up and replaced, handbrake cable adjusted.

Took the Manifold heatshield off and it's blowing from the gasket at the cylinder head.
So a new manifold gasket is on order.
Also removed the Manifold and downpipe from my tracklude for a comparison between the two.
    - - - Updated - - -
    Another update.

    Excuse the crappy phone pics

So I removed the manifold and downpipe
placed it next to a 4th Generation Prelude one for comparison.

    TOP: Accord
    BOTTOM: Prelude

    20140819_180828.

Manifold seems to be identical, so does the downpipe except for the extra length

So a Afermarket Prelude manifold and downpipe should fit with a custom flexi section.

We then measured the inner diameters of the pipes.
    the Prelude downpipe was 2"
    20140819_182926.

But the Accord was only 1.75"
    20140819_183008.

and there was a second inner piece of pipe that was 1.5"
    20140819_183019.

    No wonder it feels restricted!

We welded up the hole in the downpipe, which was by the bit of heatsheild by the lambda sensor, fitted a new manifold gasket, then put it back together.
    20140819_183251.

It now has a fresh MOT. 8-)

So I will soon be on the hunt for a new manifold and downpipe.
Thinking of a solid fabs custom jobbie.

    Wiper Refrub

Making a start on tidying the bodywork up a bit now my coilovers are on the way 8-) and my wheels are getting refurbed

Started off with the wipers as they were looking a bit weathered

    IMG_7964.

Started off my attacking them with this
    IMG_8093.
It's pretty useless... So I upgraded

    IMG_8094.

    Which was better.
After some agitation with a toothbrush and a stanley blade I ended up with this

    IMG_8096.

Then for the paint. This is what I used.

    IMG_8102.

    Etch Primed.

    IMG_8098.

    Primer.

    IMG_8100.

    Paint.

    IMG_8101.

    Finished result.

    IMG_8103.

It's not 100%. But its alot better than it was

    more progress.
Started fitting the Tein coilovers yesterday.

    Opening the box  :scaredtoss:

    IMG_1144.

    Doing the rear first

    One side off
    IMG_1145.

    other side off
    IMG_1147.

Have to use my existing top mounts and I didn't have any spring compressors. so had to wait till today to use the ones at my mates garage so had to leave it like this yesterday

    FB_IMG_1411925963509.

Swapped the top mounts over lunchtime so fitted the rear tonight

    one side back on
    IMG_1148.

Then it started hammering it down with rain (completely my luck as aways) so I just had time to fit the other side before getting soaked

    IMG_1149.

I've left the fronts for tomorrow as I couldn't be bothered to sit in the rain.

Some good work going on there.

It rained in Dudley today ?? Don't think we had any rain round South Birmingham, in fact it was quite a nice sunny afternoon.

I remember having the discussion with you regarding the manifolds at the Midlands Honda meet, glad to see you got into it and checked. You'll definitely free up a few ponies opening her up, quite surprised at the 1.5" restriction myself.

The alloy centers are looking good so far, keen to see how the finished article looks.

How low's she going to go Mart?

She is looking good, can't wait to see the end result. I am also thinking of dropping my car a bit. When you assemble the front struts, if you happen to take some pictures of each stage of how to assemble them, that would be great.. I've never assembled shocks before so i need to work out how to do it.

You have been a busy bee Mart. Lucky you got the wiper arms done on a dry day. I believe there was a real downpour in the Dudley area on Monday. @SpeedyGee, Dudley is on a hill, and tends to get catch the rain.
Nothing wrong with your photos Mart. In fact, you've got things documented well. Great progress you're making.

Some nice work there, the best looking estate in my opinion, I remember seeing one on "Harry Enfield and Chums" years ago but never seen one on the road!

    Excellent stuff @Mart609

As per my post above, any chance you could do a detailed explanation on how to reassemble the shocks with pictures? I've installed plenty of complete struts but never assembled them from bits before and so would like to see how it is done.

How low is she going to go?
