Nissan's Push for Greater Market Share Comes with a Big Cost

Beating Honda was always a goal of CEO Carlos Ghosn. That, and the 10 percent market share..

    But.

That sounds great, but the back story isn’t good news for Nissan’s bean counters. According toBloomberg, fleet sales rose 42 percent between January and May, to a total of 175,505 vehicles. Most of those sales went to rental agencies, meaning reduced profit for Nissan and lower average resale values for its vehicles.
    ...........
The strategy looks like a losing game, so Nissan plans to push higher-profit vehicles to offset losses on incentivized low-end models.

    HA!

Good on them a budget car manufacturer cannot compete with Honda, lets face it Honda are made for a niche audience and who want performance quality . Let them win the "We sell more than you"

Apart for the GTR , Nissan has nothing but commuter cars.

True. Honda has historically never targeted fleet sales which means lower sales but higher resale value and over all customer satisfaction as there are less de-contented vehicles on the market.

But Nissan has choises where Honda is very limited at the moment.

In Australia we don't have Type-R theres some hype about new NSX but who knows.

Where Nissan has choice and now we have Infiniti here as well.

You have choice due to standardisation under the Groupe PSA platform and the use of a Japanese icon. The latter give them more kudos than PAS
