    tax discs no more

ok lets see what everybody thinks about driving a car with no tax disc, in my opinion it will be so weird as I've never done it before and can't get the idea into my head I will feel naked :Blushing:

Let's hope there isn't a company somewhere who have a business model built just on making tax disc holders...

From October 2014 you will be able to pay monthly, biannually or yearly.
Monthly and biannually will incur a 5% surcharge which is half of what you are currently charged for 6 months tax.
Plus you will still the postal reminder and will still be able to pay via the post office, over the phone and online.
It's about time you can pay monthly because it was a real headache sometimes finding the cash to pay for the tax.

I think paying monthly will help a lot of people to spread the cost .. what is not clear how will a punter check if the car is taxed? Like the MOT checker Motoring : Directgov - MOT status check request there is no online tax checker?

what about people who don't have access to the internet or they can't use it like elderly people.. how will they know the car they are buying is taxed?

1st of October this year signals the shift away from displaying tax disc on the windscreens .. so if you road tax in for example in September do you remove the the tax disc on the 1st of October?

Sounds feasible, although I'm still going to keep my last disc on the window. Infact I think I have all my previous discs jammed in the holder lol.

I just hope the monthly payment option doesn't signal a significant increase in the tax in the coming years. Can just see the political powers telling us they are doing us a favour by charging us more yet letting us pay monthly making it easier for us all.:Wassat:

Just noticed you drive the 2002 model- how much tax do you pay because as far as I know all cars before 2002 over 1549cc have to pay a flat fee of £225 for 12 months like me?
