The OBD2 socket on my i CTDi is loose and will retract into what I presume is its mounting bracket, this makes inserting a reader impossible.

Has anyone any ideas as to why the socket is loose and how to rectify the situation?

    Any information gratefully received.

The connection with the mounting bracket is broken? Doesn't it click in to the bracket?

    Hi I-DSI

Nope the socket is loose in the metal orifice but it won't pull down (with fingers anyway) and if pushed up it disappears behind the metal. There is precious little room to get at it and I'm unsure what panels need to be removed to get at it and how to remove them.

The plastic prongs that would normally lock it into place have probably got flattened and need bending out.

    Hi RJ

Will get some pliers on the socket tomorrow and see if it will pull down into its proper location.

    Update

No luck there - dare not grip too hard for fear of damaging socket.
