In your opinion is it worth the (upgrade) from a 2 litre SE to a type of a slightly older age.

it will cost me £200 more a year and around a £2k cost of the car.

Type-R's are becoming rare but they well worthy of owning, an amazingly fun car to drive.

Get one now otherwise they will only become more scarce as time goes on.

Just be sure to take your time looking for one and just don't end up with a rust bucket.

    Is that a genuine question?

I would say yes do it. The extra power it has, is alone a good reason to change. Handling wise the difference is not as a big surprise as the power when compared to a 2.0. I have only tried an Type-R once and would actually say that it is quite soft for what is.

If i had the money i would have both .

    Whattt ?? Soft ?? LOL

My friend you haven't pushed it like you needed to push it. An Accord Type-R is NOT soft by any measure !

hmm maybe the shocks where worn or something because i remember it being very bouncy over bumps and with some lean to it when cornering. Yes i did not push the car hard as it was not my car .

I owned one for two years and in that time I never would have described it as soft (much to Pottermiss's annoyance).

I suggest you buy one, find a nice B road and press the loud button with your foot.

Edit: I can't get over you said that!

They are so planted it's untrue. Are you sure it was a Type'R and not a Type'V? Lol

    I wouldn't ask otherwise

I have never driven a Type-R and have only ever seen one up close so it was an innocent question

In that case drive a few then as you may get the false impression is you drove a worn out example first up.

He seems to have some odd problem when he was VTECing it, it was making a nasty, nasty sound occasionally.

Haven't really found a good example, oddly there don't seem to be many about

You will have to pay good money now to get a decent example. Otherwise I guarantee you will spend the saving you made anyway on repairs. There old girls now and need some TLC. Some have been thrashed to hell as well and not looked after.

Google 'accord Type-R rust' and click on 'Images'. That should bring you to your senses.

Get a 7th Generation diesel and have it remapped, now THAT is the route to performance...
