    Hey all,
I've been getting check engine light on and off lately, so got hold of an obd2 reader and found out its P0325.
    Any tips on easy fixes?
have already tried cleaning the connector with brake cleaner, couldn't properly get to the sensor but did spray some onto it.

I thought you should only spray electrical contact cleaner on such components and not brake cleaner which is very corrosive :O

    P0325 Knock sensor.

Sensor is either kaput or wiring/connector damaged.

Oh yeah and don't use brake cleaner on sensors !

    just thinking out loud here,
the compliance bushings need replacing anyways, can that cause sensor to detect knock if ur driving on uneven roads, as the car is slightly unstable..

This sensor creates a voltage signal based on the vibrations caused by detonation. The computer uses this signal to retard timing when sparkknock occurs (http://www.standardbrand.com/media/885972/ST10235KS-FEB14_JTF_Knock.pdf)
and not knocking of suspension so the issues are unrelated.

    Suspension: Knock, knock !

    Sensor: Whose there ?

Suspension: It's me, Suspension !

Sensor: Sod off Suspension ! I only listen for Engine Knocks !

Suspension: Damn you ! I get knocked all over the place and no one gives damn ! Engine knocks a couple of times and ECU comes running to his aid !

I recently bought my 7th Generation, and it came with the EML light on.
It went on and off periodically for a while.
It had been standing for a year, and had half a tank of gas in, so I ran it down to empty and filled it with high octane for 2 tanks worth, and I no longer get it coming on.
I took a guess that the petrol had gone stale, and the engine was detecting pinking and letting me know with the warning light.

Worth a try for a couple of quid extra on your next fill up.

thanks simes, but i've been using v power since last 2 fills...
Also, took the EGR valve off and it was almost clean, had a layer of carbon but not bad at all.. also did EGR plate clean..
think i'll take the sensor off and clean it and put it back again to see if that makes any difference, as i assume this knock sensor is expensive

You can't clean a knock sensor. It essentially a little mic enclosed in a metal casing.

will have to buy a new one then:Frown:
I thought just compliance bushings need changing and the car is good as new..
Does anyone have a rough idea of how much it costs?
sent an email to gareth yesterday, he hasn't been back yet

Been trying really hard to get at the sensor, but am failing due to not being able to remove the freaking intake manifold:Rant:
I mean why would they put a nut underneath and that is deeply hidden and unreachable:disagree:
Many on and off attempts have failed:Sobbing:
I hate the check engine light sitting on the dash for quite a few weeks..
Does anyone know how to remove that last remaining bolt underneath manifold?:SOS:

I obv jinxed my knock sensor by writing this, 10 minutes after posting it, I went out and the EML came on and hasn't been off since, so I was wrong in my thinking/talking tosh!

I'm going to order a knock sensor, interested to know which one you bought @hsyasin and would be helpful to see some photos as you do the swap.

I haven't ordered yet but will be ordering one from ebay, link posted above...
By seeing videos online, it seems easier to change on k24 series as they have some clearance underneath intake manifold where u can slide a 27mm socket in but on k20 theres no clearance... so only way is to take the intake manifold off.. no other way..
yes once I get to it I'll post a diy on how to change knock sensor, but at the moment i'm at loss as to how to remove intake manifold

I don't normally have any issues removing any of the K Series manifolds but then again I do have extensive set of tools.
Take a picture of the nut you are stuck, if it's the very middle one, then you need a 3/8 flex joint to give you a bit of angle to turn the nut.
