Hi, since starting my car yesterday afternoon at work the parking brake light stays on whenever i'm driving, and the alarm sounds as long as I am travelling forward. I've googled and can't find anything specific to the FR-V that helps me. The brakes work fine, the fluid level is good, my instinct is that this is a problem with the switch that turns the light/alarm on rather than a real problem. Does anyone know where this is located? We tried unplugging the cable that led into the brake fluid reservoir but this made no difference. I can see a panel above the pedals which has images relating to various warning lights, but again, none is relevant.

sounds like the switch. its a part of the lever assembly and is switched on and off as the lever hits its stop. i have known them to break.

Hi Sara this is a common issue on FR-V ,this is slightly tricky to fix as a few sensors or modules which will need specialist knowledge at the main dealers. FR-V alarms do have tendency to throw curve balls and they can be expensive.

Thanks all. We have unplugged a small cable that connected at the back of the hand brake and it's now off which means I can drive to work without losing my marbles first. We will get it checked at a garage - Honda place couldn't fit us in for 2 weeks.

    Understood Sara.

@Ichiban I think you may have misread this as a car alram issue.

I think @Sara is simply having an issue with the handbrake switch. So from what @Beefy said, it sounds like its common for the handbrake switch on the FR-V to break.

So Sara, I think you;re local garage should be able to check the handbrake switch for you and replace it if needed.

Hi the parking brake issue is caused by a clip fitted to the brake pedal needs adjusting once done it will cure problem. The Alarm prob is the module at the back of the fusebox. This module is responsible for alarm, indicators, interior light. I had the same problem stsrted with Alarm going off while I was driving then indicators on one side failed. Changed module now ok. Give me a shout if u need help.

This just happened to me, so after driving for about 5 miles swearing and cursing the gods, I stopped and unplugged the green connector you see in this pic.
I have no idea what this wiring loom does, but the handbrake light / alarm now function perfectly - I tested by raising the handbrake a touch whilst driving.

Found out what it does, on the way to work this morning I noticed the heaters were blowing cold, and therefor not reponding to my 'warm me up' instruction... Freezing my tits off I pull over and reconnect the green plug...
Now everything is back to normal and handbrake alarm / light are ok.
If anyone can offer some insight coz I'm baffled

Strange how taking it out cured the issue tho? Unless it was a coincidence of epic proportions

I have the same problem apparently - my handbrake indicator won't stop blinking and beeping.
Once handbrake slip out of my hand and seems that it broke indicator sensor lever or whatever that thing in a second photo is.

I ordered part 47342SJDG01, so called "switch assembly", as indicated by number 5 in catalogue:
Honda FR-V 2009 1.8 COMFORT LIFE/S PARKING BRAKE (LH) - Original Honda Parts | Lings Honda
You can see it near broken part in first photo.

And yet it seems that plastic lever is not a part included in "assembly"!
It apparently does not have separate part number at all!

It would probably be thrice easier on my wallet to cast or 3D print that part myself than to order whole Lever assembly.

Can someone please take a photo of whole plastic part I have broken for reference?
I would be eternally grateful for that.
