just had my plus net fibre switched on today and have a question, the install book said connect straight to the hub, while the set up online said used the open reach fibre box before the hub? Cannot get in touch with Plusnet and my speed is very slow at 6mbs?
    Can anyone help? :Unknown:

After 2 hours got sorted, new hubs don't need the fibre boxes, disconnect and speeds sky rocketed

My BT Homehub connects to the Openreach box that is connected to the phone socket.
Are you connecting directly into the Openreach box?

Yes the white openreach box is not required when upgrading

I wish I got 6mbs. Half that would be a massive improvement!

Got a speed of 40mbs which is slower than BT, but they tell me over the next 10 days it should improve.

I get about 5Mbs max, no fibre available in my area. For the UKs second biggest city, this is exceedingly disappointing !

Yes, it should do, as they will be optimising your connection.

That just stinks. BT should be heavily penalised for not delivering on the contract to connect us all up.

My neighbours get 76Mbs, but I only get 46Mbs

Alas, it's because of the route the phone line takes to my house.
However, I am grateful we're on BT fibre and not on cable. They were really bad.

Used to have to use the OR Modems when VDSL was launched, now all ISP's have the VDSL modems built in, still it doesn't matter either way.
the 10 day rule is a load of crap myth and used to take you out of the cooling off period, once synced for 10 mins your line will start training and you will hit your line limit in terms of d/l speeds.

I live bang in the middle of London and can't get fibre! It's such a joke, we've had surveys sent out asking people if they want the lines upgraded and I think no one responds to these, as most people who live on our estate now are mostly yuppies & office worksers who spend most of the time out binge drinking and sniffing coke when their not at work. :beer

@docdepommfrit make sure you chase up Plusnet if things don't improve, I had many issues at the beginning, then it settled down, now get intermittenet connection drops and slow net. I think @FirstHonda had many issues and cancelled his contract.

Annoyingly for me, draw a circle a couple of hundred metres around the house and the surrounding area outside that circle is all Fibred up !

For some reason they just didn't come up the hill !!

Usually council planning screaming and shouting, or hold up with traffic planning etc usually. Only other reason is if you are connected directly to the exchange and not a PCP (green cab)

Same here! It's probably what makes it more frustrating, then theres the fact that fibre is only couple of quid more, so your paying over the odds for slow internet too.

I get about 40mbps on Sky Fibre but can't have Virgin because im not in the area however I have zero complaints with Sky.. Only once in two years did my internet go down and one call later, the engineer was at my door step next morning and managed to fix it from one of those green boxes so nothing but praise for them. . Oh and I pay £25 pm for Unlimited Fibre broadband and phone line.

PlusNet are the worst organisation I've ever dealt with - a total shambles.

Awful service, difficult to speak with, frankly incompetent on every level.

OFCOM get more complaints about them than any other provider. I added one to the thousands a few weeks ago.

If you have an opportunity to cancel without penalty I'd save yourself the bother and go somewhere else. If it's too late to cancel then you have my sympathy!

In the end I paid the cancellation charges as it was just a better option. Bunch of cowboys.

I wouldn't mind trying out Sky, but they will probably block Kodi.
