Body, Paint & Styling Rage!

Left slightly annoyed today, came out of Tesco to find someone had made a bad attempt at parking INTO my car.
No note, CCTV blackspot - terrible Christmas surprise to a 3 week old EX.

The damage looks superficial from a distance, but up close it's obvious - plus you know how you feel when you find even something as small as a stone chip, so this is bugging the hell out of me!

So aside from venting my anger on here, I wanted to ask what options I have and whether it's worth tapping my insurance or paying up front? The two estimates I've had are around the £500 mark, my excess is £250.

    Season's greetings,

    Moniker

Really sorry to hear that bud. That's gunna hurt on any car but one that only 3 weeks old OUUUCHH !!

    I'm gutted for you.

Tesco car parks are the worse place for such incidents. I hate going to places like that (usually send the wife Lol).

Anyways I would defo go the self funded repair option. Going via insurance will affect you for several years over.

Remember the question "Have you made any claims in the last 3 (or sometimes 5) years ?"

What damage is there, which panels?

I feel for you, my wife had her Ibiza passenger door dented right across the swage line a couple of months ago, car is only 18 months old, and I've kept it immaculate. This wasnt just a tap, door must have been kicked or something.

hoping a dent specialist can get it out, when I can afford it...

Self funded it is then. It was the rear left hand side door and wheel arch - looked like the nose of the other vehicle just scraped the whole lot.

The garage can't take it until 3rd week of Jan so I've been waxing and polishing to try and keep any salt off the metal work under the paint.

Has it actually pierced the paint, or is it just a scuff that would machine polish out?

    Happy New Year!

I've been a little occupied with Christmas and all the travelling which goes with it to see family. I'll grab a picture of the car before it goes in for a respray and after. I eventually got a quote for £400 locally through a family run body-shop listed in Yellow Pages and she'll be taken in next Monday.

On the plus side, my 'Rage' has abated by driving the car on it's first long distance trips. I notched up 600miles over Christmas (1000 total since I got the car) and every mile was a delight. The drivers seat is very comfortable for long periods and the iPhone integration is pretty good (although I use Siri through the bluetooth rather than HFTC). I finally saw the TMC come to life when we drove South of Perth and the updates were there on the Map screen right away.

Quite simply, very very impressed with the car!

    Hi Moniker, Happy new year.
Know how you feel as I got trollyed after 1 months ownership in an Airport carpark.
As your cars still so new Id take a look at some of the suggestions in here http://hondakarma.com/threads/3525/
Coz in my experience your fog lights could be your next source of rage.
    Glad you like your car

Thanks for the heads up on the Fog Lights, it was never an issue I thought about until I read the thread - will look into protecting them with something once I get the car door done.

I'd happily advocate a law where drivers who commit such crimes to be shot.

    Thats shocking damage.

I'd be asking for new doors personally.

Moniker, did you ask how they were planning to blend in the colour ?

Thanks for the support - At the time I wasn't very happy with said individual, but since I've just found out that every other person I talk to has had something similar happen to them up and down the country. Infuriating as it is, it seems epidemic.

The colour is matched and blended across the rear panel though to the front passenger door. Big job, hence the price tag to do it properly.
