Hello everyone I am looking for advice on how to reposition the steering wheel on my W reg accord saloon.I have read some web pages for US vehicles and it seems straight forward, paying due regard to safely disconnecting the battery and air bag electrics. The vehicle was a category D right off when I bought it 12 years ago and I have done 250000 miles so far and never had time when working to fix it.Now Im retired I have the time. The steering geometry is within tolerance but no free adjustment on T/R ends,so Im hoping re-aligning the wheel will fix the issue.Any advice would be appreciated

Fixed I got the information from the other web site they told me just disconnect negative battery terminal and leave for a few minutes then unscrew two T30 Torx screws located underneath the wheel spokes.Very pleased as garage was making issues about air bag removal, suspect to inflate the repair cost.Took me 20 minutes to R&R the airbag and align the steering wheel

if your steering wheel has never been removed from the steering column then YOU do not ever need to remove it to center it. When you get a wheel alignment done the alignment specialist will hold the steering in the dead ahead ahead position which will be held with a clamp on the seat. When the four wheel alignment is done the steering spoke angle will be centered automatically.

Robbo what advice you have taken is incorrect and franky made your steering spoke angle off centred. when you get your car on a four wheel alignment machine it will out once its aligned to factory specs:Rolf: really good advice from the other site..

Thanks for your reply but you make wrong assumption. The car which I have owned for 12 years had a 4 wheel alignment check 3 weeks ago and was within tolerance. The steering wheel was off center (20 to 2, using imaginary clock face). I don't know if the first owner had misaligned the wheel,I can only assume so.The advice given was 100% safe and correct.I am sorry you chose to ridicule it.But thats your problem mine has been fixed with the helpful and Quick reply.

Was the steering wheel held at the dead ahead position when it was aligned and what machine machine was used to align your car repeatedly. Can you share the alignment specs read outs. I seriously doubt the wheel was held in the dead ahead position.

Hello as I mentioned in my first post the steering wheel has been off centre ever since I bought the car 12 years ago. The free Hunter four wheel alignment check was carried out 3 weeks ago and was according to the computer display within tolerance with the wheel position off-centre as it has been since I owned the car, but could not be centred by adjustment of T/R ends. I didn't ask for a computer print out as I felt the free check was sufficient bearing in mind the alignment was within tolerance.

I have answered the question the steering wheel was Not centred during the Hunter alignment check because there was insufficient adjustment on the T/R ends. Consequently it remained off-centre until I realigned the wheel yesterday.

    That wasn't the question

WAS this clamp used? Regardless where your steering was pointing prior to the alignment.

No response or have you finally figured out the logic behind the clamp holding the steering when the wheel alignment is carried out?
