Anyone know if there is a way to replace my key and remote with a remote that has the key in it ? I don;t like having the key separate from the remote (or fob I think it's called).

I assume you don't have a blade type key ?

    Like so

If its not a blade type key then I don't think you can combine it.

Yep, that is a flat blade type.

So in theory you should be to use something like this to convert

I wonder how they deal with the built in immobiliser in the key ? :Messed:

Actually thinking about it that ebay item that I've posted won't help you.. that's for converting a key/keyfob to a flip case one.

Yours you want to convert a normal blade into a all-in-one

    Correct.

Looking at my key, is doesn't look like it will be easy to separate the key and the plastic housing. If, as you say, there
is an immobilizer built into the key, then I guess I should leave the key as is.

This looks promising... It allegedly supports 2004 Civic

Would just need cutting and programming

I think you would have to cut the plastic away careful to get to the little white immobiliser transponder which is in the very middle of the key.

That would need to be then inserted into the new housing along with the buttons.

    Oh yes, I remember now.

The FR-V keyfob is broken, just looking at alternatives.

I actually have a spare 2 button flip key remote (same as in my guide) that I am not using. Happy to send that to you if you want it.

Thanks for the offer @RogerH69 but mine is currently a two button control with key and not a separate control and key.
