Hey everyone, just a bit of advise really. I am in the process of getting rid of the chrome on my silver CL7. This includes the front grill, which I will be colour coding this and obviously leaving the middle mesh. The window trim I will be doing black. Finally the door handles, so I am not sure if I should colour code these as well or leave them as they are?

I believe @intruder has removed his chrome trim from around the windows.

Household bleach takes fake chrome off of plastic trim really easily

Fill bucket with some bleach dunk fake chrome item in and agitate with a brush. When all chrome removed wash off bleach.

    Black plastic remains

Well the body shop has refused to do the top part of the window trim as its hard to take off. He said the bottom will come off easy, but he does not want to try take the top one off incase it bends etc.

How have you lot took yours off? Intruder when you wrapped yours, was this with the trim on or off?

Have been thinking about doing mine also to be fair (as I'm a boy racer ) as I have no chrome trim on front at all and think would look good if was all black round the windows to match with the tints and wind deflectors then maybe carbon handles to match the bonnet and door pillars. No guide @intruder?

No guide unfortunately :Frown: DIYed that myself for the first time. All I used was vinyl wrap, wrapping squeegee, adhesive squeegee sheet and of course sharp knife. I could tell you what brand products to buy @K24 CL9 GUY in case you're going to do that yourself

I don't know why you don't use the bleach method. If you can remove the trim you easily remove the fake chrome without damaging the plastic.

Wrap is removable, removing the chrome is permanent. Some people like the process to be reversible if they get tired of it in the future.

    Fair enough

However who thought fake chrome should ever go on a car. Hate the stuff and would love to do my handles but detest that gunk Honda insist on using on their door liners

Yeah I didn't when did my pillars but thought might be good as a bit more intercut on the trim. I will investigate your handy work at the show
