    Such a shock, this.

The Young Ones was probably the first comedy I watched that my parents hated. Brilliant stuff. For me, though, Bottom was even better - just crazy - with the Christmas episode a particular favourite. The New Statesman was superb too. And the Comic Strip...

He will be sadly, sadly, missed.

    Britain thanks inventor of videotape

Totally gutted too. I seem to remember he was the first comedian (The Young Ones) that I laughed at when I was about 7 or 8, the rest were ones that your parents or grandparents found funny but not I.

Then they done the charity single Living Doll, a classic lol

Then Bottom came along, I was in my mid teens and it just was the funniest thing at that age, it was up against all those boring typical sitcoms of its time.

The BBC have put together their own list, worth a watch too

Rik Mayall: The Funniest Moments - BBC - YouTube

    ..and narration of Jackanory

RIP Rik, thanks for the best laughs.

I loved Filthy Rich & Catflap, think it was missed by most people.

Sorry his best ever was "Mr Jolly lives next door", all he had to do was kill Nicholas Parsons!
