Hi guys, I have got rust showing through the paint work in the area behind the fuel cap area of my 2010 CR-V. Being a white car it obviously stands out.
The car is just out of warranty (January20) , does the paintwork have a longer warranty?
Also because the effected area is not part of the external body would it be covered if there is a longer warranty on the paintwork?

Can you get a picture of this mike ? With paint and body corrosion we need to rule out the damage has been kick started with damage or stone chips. If it hasn't then yes you have Honda to fall back on.

Sorry Mike but I have no idea.
Best thing you could do I think is take it to your local dealer and ask them to have a look and advise you further.

Has you car full Honda service history (at least the free annual check for corrosion)?

Yes, the car has a full service history, it has done less than 16k from new.
I will take a picture tomorrow and post it.
It looks as though someone may have touched this are up before I had the car.

I doubt you will face any resistance for that being repaired. But its a bit concerning to see that type of rust so early.

    Ditto

Seems odd is it a seam or could you have chipped the part when filling up? Odd place to get a rust spot

Can't see Honda questioning it though being so new and low mileage if this were a VW you might have a fight on your hands thought.

    Hi guys
attached is the picture sshowing the rusted area, sorry it isnt very good.
You can see that the rust is along the seam but what you may not be able to see is that it encroaches on the very edge of the external bodywork.
I will try to pop into the dealership as soon as I can but just wondered if anyone els has found similar rust spots inside the filler cap area?
If you have a dark coloured car you may have to look closeley at the area.

I popped into my local dealer but their body specialist is based at Oswestry. Went to Oswestry and a very nice lady took paint thickness measurements around the body and a picture of the area effected. She took details of the mileage (16000). Because there was no red rust showing (I cleaned the area to take my picture) she said that she would wait until the rust reappeared and had photos showing this. I will monitor the area and as soon as the rust appears again I will take some photos and email them to her. She will then register the problem with Honda and see if they will offer a repair under warranty (perforation). The paint warranty covers actual perforation and rust that originates from under the skin of the paint and not from chipped paintwork or scratches.
I will keep you informed of the progress.
If Honda won't repair the area I will do it myself.
I can't have any rust on the COTM ! LOL
    Regards Mike c.
